Title: Who's gonna use NUKES first?
Post by: xrtoronto on July 22, 2006, 05:48:34 PM: Does anyone have any thoughts about who will be the first to use nuclear weapons this century? The countries that have'm are:

Will it be a country OR will it be an organiziation? Delivery by land, sea or air?

Where or what is the target?

Oops, it's not on the list. And all the previous Soviet devices are lumped together without consideration for religious and political differences by the current independent states?

Soviet block nukes are all in Russian Federation now, guarded above any imagination.

I'll be really unhappy if it will be Russia to use it first, but our military doctrine supposes using nuclear weapons first against an aggressor who threatens Russia or it's allies. "Allies" here means (as I think) united countries like Belorussia, as well as Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Just a matter of time

I used to deal with tactical nuclear weapons. American nukes are very safe. There is a set sequence of events that HAVE to happen in the correct order for a nuclear detonation to take place. I can't say anything more about that sequence of events. Chances of an American nuke *accidentally* going off is nil imo.

I cant speak for the nukes that were built by other countries though.

It's rumored and suspected that Israel has nukes. I dont think that has been confirmed though. Could be wrong, but I dont think Israel has ever admitted to having nukes either.

Hmm...

I know they are very safe, but sooner or later something will fail. It always does and I dont think nukes are any different. There are alot of warheads too.

If something can fail, it eventually will.

One of the few things about GW Bush I'm happy about at this point is my faith he'd not hesitate an instant to overwhelmingly obliterate the source of a nuclear attack on the US.

They never admitted to haveing nukes, but them Clinton never admited to inhaleing too.

My vote goes to a few, (1) some terrorist group if they ever get one (2) Isreal, if they feel like another holocost is happening (3) N Korea, if they ever get a missle that'll make it to the US (4) the US, fireing back at N Korea, or anybody else that pops one off (5) Iran, trying to "wipe Isreal off the face of the earth"

If N Korea ever gets that stupid rocket working...theyll hit us. we will completely turn everything north of the 38th into a giant glowing glass parking lot. china will get pissed. probly try and hit us. hopefullt hey wont, it would suck to be the guy to order the deaths of a 10th of the global population. If any arab coalition with more than 2 countries tries to wip israel out...i dont think that they would hesitate to stragetically glass every major city/military facility in the region...:confused:
