Come in a Newbie ask NOE when I say 499ft or less i bet 20 guys some saying been here since ah1. argueing its 200ft or less. Nothing changes lol
-
ummm...i think it is under 200ft no offense..
under 500 means the enmey cant see your dot but you show a darbar
under 200 no dot or darbar
try it out in the training arena....
if im wrong please feel free to let me know
sincerely

You know I don't think we ever got a clear answer on this one, I think we need to take another look at this and get some evidence together. (or ask HT) :aok

Under 500ft and your dot will not show up on radar to the enemy when you are within the enemies radar circle.
It's more beneficial to fly under 200ft though, 500 is just the maximum alt to avoid radar, either dot dar or dar bar.
The closer you fly to the deck, the harder it is for the enemy to visually see you since your icon may not show until 3k away due to the water covering your icon. It also depends on the angle the enemy is to you.

In our squads case its 10ft so we can auger.:D
-
i need to emphasize that the under 200ft not only doesnt show a dot but ALSO doesnt show a darbar (i.e. upper corner of quadrant)
so under 500ft...no actual little green dot on enemy dar
and under 200ft no dot OR darbar
-
just reread kermits post and he is saying under 500 doesnt do darbar...my expereince as perhaps the most prolific 110 noe raid leader is that when it is just us in a quad and someone creeps above 200 we see a darbar...when we ask that person to get back under the green darbar goes away.....
any clarification from the higher ups would be great:aok
-
true
-
The problem is: You can check out alone, since you never see yourself on DAR counter anyway. Kind of the same for dot radar.....
Best bet would be to get two people to c´heck it out in the BuMA. Asking HT would be..... almost cheating ;).
PS: i always thought it was 200 ft as well, but i heard people say thats because drop alt for torpedos is 200 ft max....... i always stay around 150 ft if I ever need to be NOE (rare, since im usually trying to pick a fight anyway).

I has changed from long ago..and we used to be able to view (Not change) MA settings at a glance to watch for changes or refresh our memory.
-
lol dale has came on boards and said this before its 500ft always has been. 499ft and nothing shows saying to be low so icon doesn't show, Well if con up to see if icons around your alread had.

if was a darbar u can bet he wasn't 201 ft but was 500ft. and yes many times noe and someone climbs to hi . but to put this to rest if you don't trust hitech or dale. get buddy turnfilm on both planes test it. watch map and you'll se darbar 500ft..............

Schatzi dear... radar has always been 500' for dot and bar. It isn't a mystery - unless you never checked arena setup during all the years you could view it, or it has been changed since yesterday.
Also, the height/speed guidelines people have told you about torpedos are a myth. It depends on the torpedo model.
The world is full of myths and people who spread them without verifying them. Why should AH be any different? :D
-
NOE is under 500'.
The all mighty Flossy corrected me on that issue when I said it was 200' way back.
-
I've seen HT say its 500, but I refuse to believe him :D
My squad is trained to get below 200 feet. That way you see, if someone drifts up, we're still good.

under 200 when squads name is clowns of death not to good of idea either way. i.e. trees or just clowning around into the drink :)
-
There are two different settings involved here.
1) RadarAlt and 2) SectorCounterAlt so they are not necessarily the same.
Radar alt is 500' from my experience.
And now the funny answer:

It has happened :-)
But we're the good squad with the funny name, no one is so clowny that they can't operate the plane :aok

Thanks Rolex!
If noone would spread myths, this board would be boring ;).
No, in all those *years* (barely two) i have been here, i never bothered to check all arena settings while i still could. Since im seldom found NOE (i usually announce my location on 200 anyway) it a rather academical discussion for me anyway.

Translation please?

Also remember this, when you used to be able to view the arena settings they may not have been the actual settings being used.
My experience as a CM you get that initial screen of settings and then a split second after, when the host uploads the current values, they then change and reflect the current arena settings.

Just according to what you have them set as. You can make them what you wish.

Why would we be worried about the enemy dots when we are talking about friendlies being under dar? (psst...friendly dots are green by default :))
-
Generally speaking I use default settings, keystrokes, commands or colors when I explain game related topics.
Because when the friendly is under or above radar, the enemy then will or will not see them.
You will always see a friendly whether is under or above radar.
