Meow, I did a long run to Singapore this year, Boeing 747 on the way, 777 on the way back, Airbus on the last quarter, sorry but the airbus was a better ride by far. Quieter, more comfortable.

Very funny, but to be fair the A350 is a bit of a lash up. On the other hand, Boeing needn't be so smug. The A380 is a good example of how it can all go wrong with a 'brand new airplane'.  The 787 is still a paper airplane, or should that be pixel:cool: airplane. As we know only paper airplanes are perfect.

the 787 hasn't been referred to as the 7E7 by Boeing for at least two years.  That smug, and honest, little clip is one I haven't seen before.

yawn.......the 747 is nearing 40 years old.  Yeah......its probably a little noisey compared to more modern designs.

Airbus is finally coming around with an all new (cough) design to compete with the 787, but they (Airbus) have been rather arrogant these past few years and deserve a good finger pointing and laughing at :rofl

Also, 787 is well past the digital design phase with many major subassemblies having already been manufactured and undergoing load testing.  Meanwhile Airbus has lost several critical years worth of time creating the A380, an airplane with very limited use for a niche market.

Time will tell but whatever Airbus comes up with to compete against the 787 will ultimately outsell the A380 by a wide margin, and make a lot more money.

The A380 is a pink elephant.

Something tells me that if Boeing was European and Airbus was American than the coimments on either brand would be completlhy reversed on this board... even if the planes were the same as they are.

Ive flown both brands and they all suck unless you are really tiny or want to shell out for 1. class.. but even then you dont get much room.

Only if they use microsoft flight sim as their digital software for product promotion ;)

And unlike Raider's answer...

No, they didn't.  Looked like something I'd make though, cheesy wise.

Well, that settles everything then.

if your ride is a quiet one or not i think has more to do with where you are placed in the plane with respect to the engines.  at over Mach 0.75 the further forward, the better off you are.  Concorde would have been a really quiet ride if the hadn't server so much champagne....

This 787 vs Airbus arguement is hilarious.

Tried to post a link to Flight International but it won't work.....

Anyway quote from it about Farnborough Airshow orders
Quote
Among the carriers committing to Airbus were Singapore Airlines, with a letter of intent to take 20 A350s and nine more A380s, and lease 19 A330s.

Also from AP
Quote
"It is heartening that Airbus has listened to customer airlines and has come up with a totally new design for the A350," said Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Chew Choon Seng.

Chew said the technical specifications will make the new Airbus plane "a very competitive aircraft in its class for the coming decades."

And this from the airline that just ordered some 787's, and that people on this board reckoned would pull out of 380......

I have to get involved with Boeing and Airbus production on almost a weekly basis and they are so alike it isn't funny. Yes 380 has problems and they will get sorted - the freighter will be a world beater. A350 will be a sucess as will 787 but 787 is still a largely paper airplane.  Lets see how long it takes to get one standing on it's own gear on the ramp at Everrett first before finger pointing at the 350 ....

Just heard that a "new" Concorde is to be made.
A little less speed, twice the passengers, more silent and has long range.

yeah saw that earlyer in the week.  13000km range and 250 passenger. speed is mach 1,6. Eta is sometime in 2017. Alot can happen with aviation in that time.
