Title: Top tour de france rider has tested positive
Post by: Nilsen on July 27, 2006, 04:53:49 AM
They have not revealed who it is yet, but the test was taken the day Floyd Landis made his remarkable recovery. Floyd has disapeared and did not meet on start for the race he was supposed to start in yesterday and today. Nobody can get in touch with him or Phonak.

Press is ofcourse speculating that he is the one.

I really hope its someone else. The recovery he made that day was extremly fun to watch. I hope its anyone but him.

For a long long time in the early days of the Tour de France a mixture of heroin and alcohol were the perfect  ''medicin'' for getting through this extreamly hard sportsevent! I'll drink to that! :aok

yup. they used to eat and drink well at resturants. they even brought cognac and port with them on their bikes... yet the stages were ALOT longer than they are now and the bikes crap compared to what they are now.

thats a shame.. with his background he was not the one i thought would do something that stupid.

Testosterone could explain his rage when he got to the finish line. He hurled a bottle at a reporter.

I hope it's a mistake.

I hope it was someone trying to sabotage him.

Because if it wasn't...Landis, his 'doctor' (or his director?) are all just plain stupid.

Edit:

Interesting reading.  Extreme physical efforts induce testosterone production.

The Phonak team has been caught many times before so there may be a culture for cheating within the team.

Anyone busted for doping should be excluded for life. Take Basso as an ex.. he will race again soon in spain. Until the punishment for cheating gets tougher some will always risk it. If you are done in the sport after beeing caught then maybe you will think twice.

The nurse assisting in Landis' sampling was paid by Pereiro's Squirrel team.
