Title: AH drops to task bar with XP
Post by: 63tb on July 27, 2006, 04:05:02 PM
Hi,
I just went to WIndows XP on my PC (I use to run Windows 98). Now when I run AH after about a minute or two I go back to the Windows desktop and AH drops down to the task bar.
I also now have McAfee Antivirus and Firewall but I disabled them before running AH.
Are there any tricks to running AH on Windows XP? As I said AH ran fine when I had Windows 98 running on this PC.
I took a screen shot of all the processes running on Windows when AH went to the task bar, but I don't know how to attach it.
(edit) - I just tried AH offline and it ran fine.
thanks

'This might be either Windows update (DONT let it autocheck for updates) or your firewall/AV.
Not likely on a fresh install, but id also go hunting for spyware/malware.
Check out this thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=182554) a few lines down from yours... it might help you.
To post pictures, you need to host them on the web somewhere (http://www.picturehangar.com - imageshack or photobucket are also free pages where you can host). Then just either post the link to the pic here or, do display directly, use the [img][/img] tags.

Schatzi,
I didn't think to check auto-update, so it must be on. I'll try disabling that and try AH again.
thanks

Title: Spysweeper

Do you have webroot spysweeper? I found that when I have that running, it will make AH minimize to the task bar. I turned it off and now I do not have that issue.

I'm sorry I forgot to update this.
It was Windows update that was causing the problem
