This is totally removed from the bomber dive angle hits debate, but related. I was thinking about diving planes and dropping bombs. I remember seeing the bombs fall through my plane in some situations. If I'm diving fast and I release I don't remember if I can pull ahead or not....
But how about having this bomb knock your wing off if it hits your wing? No boom just "CRRAA-AACK!" and your wing got sheared off. Like the famous photos of B17s that have wings ripped off by friendly bomb drops.

Yes, we definatly need something like that. Considering we can collide with almost anything else around our environment. Why not a falling object, same as debris. You hit it, it implements heavy damage to your vessel.
-
well, if you're too low when you drop your bombs there is a possibility of getting caught in your own bomb blast. Died in a Ju87 a few times from dropping the BFB it carries.
ack-ack

So you're sitting on the runway inside another guy who accidentally loaded up heavy. He jettisons his bombs. Your wings disappear.
-
As it should be. Actually he'll KS himself, is what he'll do.
Regardless, I was more thinking about how bombs fall through the plane that drops them, rather than falling from the plane that drops them. I've dropped stuff off wing hardpoints before only to see it move through the wing (extreme cases, but still)

If he KSes himself, then that means if you drop bombs and they pass through a friendly aircraft on the way down, you get KSed.
-
ya know... he's got a point!
:lol

read a book wich stated that the spit pilots where required to drop there bombs above 40% or they would hit thier plastic props lol, it really is a smack to all the newbs out thier to have this implemented, but im all for it, also would be cool if the ju87, and comperable AC had the swing/arm system of bomb release...of course we have to draw the line somwhere, who knows, but im for it~:aok

OOZ, it only adds to realism. Just add an option for "bombcollide" in the arena settings so you can choose if you want it to collide.
-
At present you drop your bombs when your plane is on a runway they do not arm and thusly will not explode.
The coad would then have to track all these new objects and increase server load, would it not?
The new whine: "I dropped some bombs and started to get massive stutters"
-
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't Krusty asking that your bombs damage your plane if they strike it after release?
That seems perfectly reasonable to me, if that's in fact what he's suggesting. It would also seem that that would result in no more rendered objects or server loading, since that would all happen only on the player's FE.
-
Yes he is but my reply was directed at:
"So you're sitting on the runway inside another guy who accidentally loaded up heavy. He jettisons his bombs. Your wings disappear."
...and then...
"As it should be. Actually he'll KS himself, is what he'll do."

Ah, I sort of ignored those posts, and didn't make the connection to yours. Carry on.

I'm not sure on this so no flames please but I belive that a squaddie of mind told a story about trying to drop a FH from a pony in a negative G dive. If I recall correctly he said that when he dropped his bombs they did fall through his plane however he was instantly killed.

Yes, that was what I was asking. If, for some strange loop, you "tossed" a bomb upwards (to have it arc down) then it hit you on the way down, you'd lose a wing, or whatever.

Bad31st, currently bombs cant collide with planes and will cause no damage. Whatever happened there might have been wings snapping from the -g's or he crashed into the ground. Yet at the time being no bombs can collide with the planes which dropped them.
