Post by: Pooh21 on July 29, 2006, 02:07:31 AM
Radio Shack is selling this charger that is supposed to plug into the power outlet on an airplane to recharge my laptop, does ecomomy have those outlets or is it just 1st class?

Varies by plane and airline.

Most short and medium haul planes older than a few years have no power in economy. Some older long haul have 12 V cigarette lighter style sockets under some seats in economy e.g. American Airlines 777's but they are pretty worthless. New aircraft may have power in economy and nowadays it will be 115V with a multistyle socket - US / Euro / three pin.

But to be honest unless you have a very small laptop you don't really have room in an economy seat to open it. I have a 13" Vaio and it's a struggle.

To see who has it go to http://www.seatguru.com

I would invest in a second battery, and if your lappy has the option to replace the optical drive with one than thats the way to go.
