Raptor is correct; there a couple of North Africa terrains in the works, and they are a much larger scale than what it sounds like you've got going. One map covers Morocco/Gibraltar and the other covers Algeria/Tunisia. There will be yet another in the future that will cover Tobruk/El Alamein.

I'd be happy to take a look at it when you're done. :)

Well that pretty much destroyed my will to continue working on this map :lol
Here are few(!!) pics from it anyway:

Gibralter!!! Alright, that sounds like fun for a sea (carrier) battle. We should make one specifically for GV wars of Cairo. Make a few custom objects of the pyraminds and allow the vehicles to roam around in them. Now that I think of it, I might try it.

Don't let it stop you, Duh... someone may want a map that covers that much area; doesn't matter if the CMs are building something similar or not.

Your results look so good so far that you should not stop, no matter what. :aok

FWIW, there is ALWAYS going to be someone working on a similar project somewhere... always. The reason for you to work on your own is because you want to, because you want to build it yourself. It's not a race, it's a challenge... it's a test of self-achievement.

Build a map because YOU want to see what it's like to build it, to have that pride. And every map you build is practice for the next map, and the next map after that, and after that... :)

Thanks dux, although you were talking to duh, I needed that kind of motivation too. Was about to shut down one of my "projects".

Thanks for the advices Dux. I tried building a n africa map a few times before, every time got frustrated but after a few weeks i would get back to it;)

Lately something changed - i seem to more enjoy and spend time just building maps than playing ah. I like building maps and i enjoy it - i have made so many maps just for myself. And the more succesful i am at making maps, the more fun i have creating them:)

I was just kidding about canceling this map, too late for that now;) I still have fun building it.

Anyway here is the clipboard map:

(http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4127/savanna3id6.th.jpg) (http://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=savanna3id6.jpg)

And i do still need someone to help me place bases, wich is the part i don't really enjoy:D

Those are some nice looking tiles and objects duh.

I for one like terrains of that scale because it makes bomber runs more workable within the alloted time frames we use.

Have you checked the scale to see if air distances work both north/south vs. east/west and at different latitudes?  In doing a quick check, they seem pretty close to being right but it's hard to tell on your posted image without cities for reference air miles.

problem with the terrain is that i couldn't get the whole north africa coast without having too much of Europe and Africa in map too.So i selected only that part of map, and it is probably not right in real distances.Map is 256 miles.
I had a lot of trouble with mapmaker.I didn't want a 512 map of that part so i zoomed out and then just made it 256.

Btw how can i check the distances?

Edit: nothing is placed on the terrain so changing it wouldn't be a problem

I'm surprised mapmaker produced results that close but maybe it's because it's nearer the equator. I didn't have results as good as your's but I'm much further north and abandoned mapmaker. :(

Locate some test towns on your clipboard map and measure the miles between them.  Then try one of the air miles sites like this one (http://www.airtimetable.com/Air_mile_calculator.htm) at random.  I usually try more then one site to get a cross check for accuracy.  This says it's 1680.25 miles between Algiers and Cairo which may not be too helpful.  There are other, better sites but distances  to, from and within Libya will be hard to come by, at least in English.  Try Google etc.

It seems that airdistance is 150 miles lower ingame on a 256 map.

Here is a 512 map,i think i'll stick to the 512 map,way more accurate in distances.

2.09 bugs - crash when first opening the map.Shouldn't get anymore crashes after that.
- new farms cause green transition areas to appear on costume textured farm tiles.

I don't know how to download the map. I download it, than the computer says
                                               COMPUTER
The computer needs to know what created this program.

What folder should i choose to get it in AH2?

:D:o

For all of you who do NOT know where to place the file(s). Place them (save them) here:
C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\ahiiterr\

I do not know where you saved AHII, yet if you saved it to the default location it should be the above path.
