Let's see how this car stack up against other cars 2x the price...

Saw top gear an hour or so ago and they tested the new Mustang.
Both the Corvette and the Mustang looks great and performs great. The issue with both of them were all the shady plastic inside. Im guessing some company could make a good living by replacing the interior with high end materials.
Get started boys! I have given you the idea, now go make money :)

If Japan started aftermarket body kits market for Hondas, USA should start aftermarket interior kits market for Corvettes etc:D

I had a 99 C5 Corvette. It was without a doubt the most fun I ever had in a car. Now I don't know how a 911 turbo drives. Or a Viper. I have never been in many fast cars.
I did drive a Saleen Mustang before I bought the Vette. It felt much more unstable than the Vette.
Corvettes are just fun. They have everything you could want. I miss it at times. Right up until I have to take the grandkids someplace. Then I don't.:lol

Redtop,
What you need to scratch that itch and still be able to carry the kids around is a used Z28 camaro or firebird :) The last couple of years of the F-body cars have well over 300 hp (estimates run 340 at the crank) and they'll carry a family of 4 and a weekend worth of luggage at 159 mph. Almost as quick as a vette, and since a good non-abused one will run you under $7,000, you can tack on nearly 100 additional hp without breaking 10 grand.
Yea it's not nearly as cool looking as a vette but it's more than fast enough and it will easily seat 2 adults and 2 kids. Plus even with the corn-squeezing contaminated fuel they sell nowadays, it'll still get 28 mph during freeway cross country trips as long as you keep it below 80.

They also failed to mention that the Zo6 gets 26 mpg compared to every other super car in the list he had that get from 5 mpg to up to 16.
The vette is what is right about Amercian cars... the engineering. It is also what is wrong with American cars..
Being sucked dry by the UAW and other union workers that forces engineers to go cheap on trim and body and even susspension packages.

The new Vettes just look too..........well, new and modern type styling.
I hated it when they started going off the deep end with body style.
Of course I don`t have to fret over it too much. Waaaaay outa my league pricewise.
I had a `61 Vette. Will never forget that car.

I'll settle for a Vette with good quality control and proper tolerances on parts. It's sad that on a $60,000+ car, a new fender out of the box requires shim adjustments just to almost fit correctly. You can take a Toyota fender out of a box for a 15k Corolla, and it fits perfectly. No shims, 10x less hassle. It's a really bad symptom of much larger problems with US automakers.

My friend bought a Z06 on ebay for $31,000 last year. I had more fun in this car than in the 1996 Viper GTS. The sheer acceleration and strict handling can't be beaten for the price.
A must testdrive for all.
