I'm off work for three weeks and apparently I've got too much time on my hands.
Surfing the web I found this item:
William Shatner has been nominated for three Emmy Awards this year. One for best supporting actor for his role in "Boston Legal." Two for his television special "How William Shatner Changed the World."
But, but...everybody told me that the man can't act!?
What's up widdis?
Regards, Shuckins

He can't act his way out of a paper bag, but he has embraced it, which is why he is just flat out hilirious.
-
you need to hear him sing "Lucy in the sky" you'll laugh yourself half to death.
Leonard Nemoy (sp?) doing "If I had a hammer" is great as well. Two hilarious songs because spock tries to be serious and Shatner just flat out knows its bad but goes with it anyway.
Kinda like my Musical Blasphemy.

I think he's doing damn good on Boston Legal.
Was just goign to start a thread asking when he learned how to act.
Maybe its just the role but he's perfect in it.
Caught a full episode for the first time last night. Was Hillarious

good writers help.
that is not to say that he isnt part of the creation, it is to say that they are probably symbiotic and can script him as he wants to be. or something...
um.
:noid ...

Golfer, Rocket Man and Mr. Tambourine Man are even better.
Pure genius. :aok
-
Reading the title of this thread made me laugh already.
-
Cant stop thinking about one part last night.
He had sex in his office with some bimbo he picked up and it was known because he left the blinds in his wondow up
"Those blinds go down before anybody else does" LMAO
-
He can and does act. Every time you see or hear him he is acting.
I like Shat, always have. He is an American Icon and a damned good one too.
-
How can anyone not like him? He is hilarious.

Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins" music video is a classic.

He acts just fine on Boston Legal. This is the best thing he's ever done.

I thought he was a Canadian.

Shatner IS startrek.
Kirk was the only good captian.
The whole next gen thing should be deleted and forgoten.
Plus Shatner is a funny guy.
-
To some extent, every actor is a slave of his script. He's had some real stinkers. The first Star Trek movie blew big time.
Yet, I developed a sneaking admiration for the man after seeing him in as Kirk in one of the best Star Trek tv scripts ever produced: Balance of Terror.
Great script. Great acting on Shatner's part, as well as all the actors involved.

If you liked that one you have GOT to hear him do Mr Tambourine Man
Mr Tambourine Man (http://www.penduluminc.com/cdart/shatner.htm)
LMAO

The BEST Shatner role of all time, as the voice of the Possum in the animated movie Over The Hedge. Absolutely hilarious. The overacted death scenes were made for him.
-
He has really come into his own in the last few years. His work on Boston Legal is the best he's ever done. The show is genius and so is he.

I really liked TNG... even better than the original IMHO... now the stuff that came after (Voyager, DS9, etc.) were crap.

Only thing I can possibly relate to being as enjoyable as watching Shatner trying to act like he can act is maybe Quint drawing his fingernails down the chalk board in Jaws. :)

Doesn't stop him from being an American icon! Which is what he is.
He is not above parodying himself either. He does commercials for Kelloggs Bran Flakes. Like this.

Good to see him back on TV regularly............ ;)

I think there was a pretty important research case made of William Shatner's narcissistic personality disorder. If I remember right, they named the variant after him.

beet1e, you've pissed on the floor of someone's living room and now they want you gone. Have the decency to respect that.
-
Sad little person there beetle. Don't go away mad, just go away and stay there.
-
To beetle, denial is only a river in Egypt.
-
Well I suspect when Shatner was cutting his acting teeth, every actor wanted to be Charlton Heston. He does a pretty good impression.
-
No one even mentions T.J. Hooker?!?! Every friday night, our gang had great laughs with couple beers before going out, mocking Kirk & oogling Heather. *sigh*
-
I love the guy, he has a great spirit/sense of humor. Surely a TV icon.
