What's the matter Funked? Don't you know it's cool/hip to be PC these days?

The Redskins are my home team, I've been watching them play football for 20 years. I'll be very pissed off if they have to change their name... I was pissed off when they changed the Bullets to the Wizards... the "Bullets" was considered offensive for toejam's sake! When will this crap end????

When is it suppose to drop into the Pacific? Sodom & Gomorrah come to mind ...

mrfish, get out while you can & take the flag with you  :)

(same LA Times article) Utah was the first state to ban "Redskins" variations on license plates, beating California by a few months in 1999.

And we all know how freakin LIBERAL those Mormons are!

Kneejerk - Kneejerk - Kneejerk the new conservative motto!

Screwy understanding Californians......

BTW California has voted REPUBLICAN more often than not in the Presidential elections. It is hardly "the most liberal State" (see Mass. or Wisc. or Minn.) Aside from a few pockets of liberal thought like Berkely, Venice, North Hollyweird and some college towns, California is staunchly conservative.

I've been in California reading my history books  ;)

Since FDR there have been 14 elections....California voted Republican in 9 of those, including a string of 6 in a row from 1968 through 1988. I think my statement"more often than not" is backed up by the facts.

Yeah, but your post doesn't fit into the right wings paranoid fantasies about how the "leftist liberal democrats" are the root of all evil and the cause of Americas problems of the last thirty years.

Their *selective* memory doesn't allow them to remember how that piece of filth Reagan and his boot licking lackey Bush diddlyed up the economy with their deficit spending or how their drug dealing on a grand scale wrecked the lives of untold numbers of Americans.

If it doesn't fit their paranoid delusions then it didn't happen. <at least in their minds>

Weazel, don't forget, Carter admitted that more military spending was needed right before he stepped down, after Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviets, and Iran took hostages, he finally woke up.  Reagan signed all the military bills put forth because they were already drafted for Carter.  Carter went on national TV and admitted he should have built up the national defenses.  Thank GOD we spent the money, or the Gulf war and this war could be a mute point for justice.

 So weazel,

Since when does the executive branch control spending?  You my friend are every bit as much, actually alot more, a fanatical left winger who can't see through his anger.  You can't even be honest with yourself about the deficits of the 60's, 70's and 80's.  The executive signs the bills into laws, so Reagan and Bush41 get some credit, but they by no means controlled the leftist socialistic legislative agenda of the Democrat controlled congress.  Truth hurts doesn't it?

I honestly don't think you or your kind understand the meaning of the words honor or integrity or honesty for that matter.  You're hero clinton was IMPEACHED[/i] for PURGURY  that's telling a lie after your sworn to tell nothing but the WHOLE truth, not partial truths or your "spin" on the truth, but simply the whole truth.  You will sit there and tell us who do know the meaning of those words that it was all about sex and his private life.  Sad sad sad.  The saddest group of people on this planet are people who cannot be honest with themselves.  You can't even bring yourself to admit the dems role in the deficits, sad sad sad.  You're opinion therefore is worth as much as a bowl full of rocks.

dude you got a druggy pot head fealing sorry for ya, how does that make ya feel?   :D

How is Clintons lying on the stand any different than the scum Reagan saying "I don't recall" when questioned about Iran/Contra? Or how about the criminal who pardoned him for his crimes against America?

Get a grip man, they're all the same regardless of party affiliation, they're interested in maintaing the status quo...at our expense.

Your feeling sorry for me doesn't affect me in the least, sober up for 3 years or so then I might attach some importance to what you have to say.  Until that happens your just another doper.  ;)

Heheh, Udie and weazel make me think of two monkeys jumping up and down screeching at each other.   :D

Udie, it seems that whenever someone gives you the evidence you ask for you just ignore it, and say "Where's your evidence."  Hey kettle, where's your evidence?

weazel, why are you making generalizations about consveratives and right wingers.  I've conversed with alot of pretty smart ones on this board, they aren't all the same.

Surprisingly to many I bet...I agree. We spent that money in the 1980's to rebuild our military after the Viet Nam backlash of the 70's. And the affect that spending had on the communist block probably made it worth the cost.

Now here is where we diverge. When the spending is couched as Reagan's plan to bankrupt the Soviets the conservatives cry YES! and hallelujah. When the defecit from all that spending is mentioned......damn that (all those cool adjectives Udie throws in go here) Democratic Congress.

Ya can't have it both ways!

where has he given any?  He's talked alot but backed it with zero facts. He refuses to give his party any responsibility for the deficit when they where the party in charge of the congress that voted to have deficit  spending for 30+ years!!!!! Anyway he's a non-taxpaying hypocrite anway so he's off my radar screen, I'm done with him  :)  ZERO respect for him now if that's any big whoop...  BUT anybody who works their bellybutton off and pays the government thier 30% should have no respect for him either.

Gee Udie I'm REALLY sorry you have memory problems from smoking dope. <there's a reason it's called dope>

I'm not going to post links or text that you will overlook or forget shortly after you read it. <that selective memory conservatives display all the time>

BUT anybody who works their bellybutton off and pays the government thier 30% should have no respect for him either.

Udie you have two choices:

<A>Find a good accountant/tax firm and you could enjoy the same benefits I do, or <B> continue to be just another lemming doing what Big Brother Shrub <dubya> tells you to do.

A very wise man once said..

Monkey mate in the jungle
Robot replicate in factory
They both love their mother
Why must they hate they other?
Why can't we all get along?
Would they be oh so wrong?
Why can't we all love each other
Monkey and our robot brother?

Weazel, I suggest you give up on using dope as a source of slander towards Udie.

Your lack of information, or more appropriately, your misinformation is making you look ignorant. At the very least get the facts about marijauna (note: dope is used to reference to all illegal drugs) before spouting off about it. I'd be more than happy to provide you with some great information I have from ASAP which is a state and federal government funded program.

Now, you can get back to arguing about which side is more right/wrong. Not that it matters, both sides are equally as corrupt.

SW, I know what I'm talking about.

I was a dumb bellybutton who used drugs. I thought pot was harmless, it wasn't until I got clean that I realized how much it can diddly up a persons life.

I still say legalize dope, prohibition causes as many or more problems as using does.

You just don't realize it until you get away from it.

Okay, but would you agree that you can still be successful and not have your life diddlyed up if you are casual smoker- only occasionally on the weekends?

Post by: Udie on January 10, 2002, 09:33:00 PM
It's not the pot it's the person.  I've had problems with pot in the past.  That was before I realised that there's more to life than getting high.  So now I use it at night and on the weekends if nothing is going on.

Another point weazel, just because you couldn't handle pot doesn't mean that somebody else can't.  That's the reason I don't drink that often.  I know I lose the ability to maintain self control so I don't drink much.

Weazel, read some history. You'd be surprised to find out who were pot heads or even worse, heroine/morphine addicts.  Open your mind some...

I generally see all drugs the same way.  Most a dangerous in either the long term or short term.  Most seem to be if not addictive then habit forming.  I've smoked pot and still do about once every 6 months, a certain friend of mine really likes his pot, and I partake with him on occasion.

But why would you want to do it everyday?  I hear the same thing from alcoholics as I do from serious pot heads...I can quit any time I want to.  "Well then why don't you?", I ask.  Mumble, mumble is usually the answer.

I can understand the fun in getting drunk, or stoned.  But living drunk or stoned...I can't understand why someone would close themselves off from their own mind and perceptions.

Come to think of it, I can, but if your life is such toejam then get help.

Thrawn, you said it perfectly. I was there at one point (stoned everyday), it was _NOT_ fun but I thought it was cuz I was so damn high!

It's a lot more fun just to do it occasionally.

I'm not sure what it's like elsewhere, but if there any laws in Canada about personal use (and I don't believe there are) they are not being enforced.  It's a very rare Fri. or Sat. night that I don't run into someone  blowing a joint outside the bars and clubs downtown.  Or even during the day in summertime.  And those areas are patroled regularly by police officers.

hehe well what I meant was like crack heads robbing people to get a rock.  Though I honestly don't think that the drugs have much to do with it.  Heavy stuff like coke and smack do, but pot?  It happens, but I think those people would probobly be criminals if pot were legal. They are too lazy to earn their own way so they rob and steal to get their fix.  Hell when I was younger I'd smoke a J anywhere as long as none of my family or a cop was there.  Now?  NO FREAKIN WAY!  im too scared.

Basicly it all comes down to personal responsibility.  It really is that simple, almost  ;)

I've been curious about something, and was hoping one of you dope fiends could help me out...that is, if you're not suffering from !REEFER MADNESS!

How much is an oz of mj, quantity wise?  In Oregon, if you're found with less than an ounce of marijuana, it's a class C Midemeanor, just one step up from not being a criminal offense.  On the other hand, if you have one ounce or more, it's suddenly a worse offense than possession of meth and is grouped in with drugs like Heroin & PCP as a class B Felony.

I've always thought having marijuana illegal was pretty stupid, especially with all of the state/federal revenues that could be generated by sales/tax of the stuff, and this one strikes me as especially nonsensical...am I missing something?  Is an ounce or more a dealer sized quantity?

SOB, the way it works is based on weight... and whether or not it's been seperated into smaller quantities. 1 Ounce will land you 5 years. It's a criminal offense. 5 Ounces and up will land you 15 years or more, again a criminal offense. However, if it's not divided up then you will most likely get a lesser charge or less time. If it's divided up into smaller quantities, that's intent to distribute and you are tried as a drug dealer (traffiking(sp?) drugs) and this will land you a cozy cell with a big guy named bubba for a good 25 years.

If you have less than an ounce, you get a slap on the wrist- in which you will probably be given community service, sent to ASAP, and drug tested- if you are not a minor. BUT, if that less-than-an-ounce is divided up- that's intent to distribute and carries a criminal offense. Otherwise, it's a misdemeanor with something that "small".

Here, in the Washington, DC area, it all depends on where your caught. In DC itself, you will get raped. In VA, they have a 3 strikes policy, same with MD- except for Prince Georges county in which you get the same raping as in DC.

I hope that answers your question.
