In my opinion the He-162 Volksjager (People's Fighter), a German single-seat jet fighter that became operational in the last months of the war, would be a good addition to the game as a cheaper alternative to the Me-262 that would cost less perks. What do you guys think?
-
I don't think it ever became operational. I belive they flew the prototype at the end of the war but that was it.
-
there were a couple operational at the end, i think they claimed a tempest shot down (or was it vice versa?)
Pretty pointless adding it imo.
only other jet that we need is the Meteor Mk III
-
they did become operational....one wing, JG-1, became operational right in the closing month....I believe they only scored one kill b4 wars end on an RAF fighter...unclear what type of fighter was killed tho
-
and according to RAF meteor pilots who flew captured 162s, they were superior to the Meteor MkIIIs in service
-
He 162 would be a fun plane but there are other more needed additions, im not against the He 162, its a nice looking plane, but the German planeset needs a heavy bomber more than another jet.
-
wats imo
-
162 saw combat in mid april, capured raf pilot said to his interrogators that the 162 shot him down, altho the tempest shot the 162 down on aproach
-
Yes, i read about that, i started a forum on the He162, but i think it turned into a discussion about Kim Jong IL.
-
There were 2 operational units, and some sketchy records of a third filled with hastily-trained Hitler Youth. No concrete records of this one (they were burning as much as they could at this point of the war).
There were a few shot down towards the end of the war. I seem to recall a spit14/16 shooting one down right around the closing week of the war, as well.
They were in service, they saw combat (were shot down in the air), and were production models.
Theoretically, we could see them in AH.
Realistically? I think we've got bigger fish to fry. I'd pay perks for a He162 more gladly than I would for an Me262.

Necormancer has a supernatural ability to bring long-dead forum discussion threads back to life. After having been flogged to death the thread may have been deceased for many years, and bringing it back may have scant relevance to the current topic, yet Necromancer will unexpectedly exhume the thread’s rotting corpse, and strike horror in the forum as its grotesque form lurches into the discussion. The monster, instantly recognized by all who knew it in life, seems at first to breathe and have a pulse, but, alas, it is beyond Necromancer’s skill to fully restore the thread’s original vitality. The hideous apparition may frighten away some of the weaker Warriors or Warriors badly wounded in former battles, but the thread is only a shadow of its former self and very quickly expires.
Unlike Archivist, Necromancer compulsively saves every forum message in carefully preserved archives for future use in battle, while Necromancer collects departed threads merely for the thrill of resurrecting them. Some say he performs this unnatural act out of malice, others say he can’t help himself, but no one really knows.
And krusty bit, for shame.

Oh puh-leaze...
Dude you been pissing me off going back to 1999 to bump threads on purpose. Don't give me that "I didn't know" crap. You knew and did it on purpose, as you've done in several other forums in rapid succession.

I purposely bumped two threads, this wasn't one of them.
I posted on this when i looked up He 162, it was the newest one other than one that i started and ended with a picture of Kim jong IL.
I wasn't trying to revive a dead thread, sorry if i ruined whatever you were doing.

Was the Heinkel 162 ejection seat reliable?
because if it failed the pilot would really be in trouble!

gotta admit thats a nice looking jet
-
i'd rather fly a P-38 :D
-
lol , i was thinking you could shut down the engine, but still, the pilot will be moving toward the jet engine when he bails out.
-
I think the P38 looks nice
-
that canopy blocks the jet engine if it holds in place and doesn't snap off.
-
ok, didn't notice that
