I think I may have a mild version of OCd. I know very little on the subject but the little I do know I think its there.
Maybe a week ago in school a girl I sit with on break was messing with my books. She kept taking the top one off and moving it off the stack. I kept unconciously picking it up and putting it back on top. I couldnt stand having it laying next to the others. After awhile she looked at me and asked me if I had OCD? I told her not that I know of.
After awhile I noticed I always had to put my right shoe on first. And always have my cellphone in my right pocket.
Just this afternoon I came home and saw one of the dogs playtoys in the front yard. For the next few hours it wouldnt leave my mind. I kept thinking to myself that its just not right. I finally went out and put it in the back yard. I then felt alot better. I have something like this happen to me everyday I just dont remember them because its not worth remembering.
I realized what I had done with the dogs' toy and thought to myself that maybe I do have OCD. Anyone else have a similar problem or experience?
EDIT: I dont think this example counts but I'll use it. Ever since I started wearing uniforms Ive always couldnt stand for any kind of lint, dirt, or stain on any of my clothes. It just dosnt feel right until I change or clean it off. I think my caring about my uniform to much just made me into a lint nazi.

Another person seeking medical advice on a board? :D
Sure sounds like at least a mild case of OCD.
I have a similar issue, I must fart when I walk into the bedroom. Oh wait, that is just to piss off the wife. :rofl
-
I fart in elevators.
Hardly medical advice. If I wanted to shoot my own arm off and then slowly smoke it so its nice and tender then what alcohol to best serve with it. Then political problem the Democrats and Republicans are causing for a dinner conversation. Then maybe....

You should repeatedly fondle her breasts and if she asks you why are you doing it, blame it on OCD that you cant stand breasts to be covered up. Maybe she will feel sorry for you and let you feel as much as you like.

If you decide to visit a mental health professional, try to do it anonymously if possible until you receive a positive (if) diagnosis. The medical records can follow you for the rest of your life with detrimental results. For example, a guy I was private pilot ground school with had his aviation medical certificate delayed by more than a year because of a few psych visits a decade previously...

Blue, you have habits. That's normal, and it sounds like your habits are the healthy sort (you seem to dislike dirt and disorder).
If you had OCD, you'd be doing things like wasting two hours a day rearranging your sock drawer.
Modern medicine in general and drug companies in particular want to have everyone thinking they have some sort of personality disorder. Don't fall for that trap.

*quickly drives over to blueJ1's house and re-arranges all the furniture:t

If it doesn't disrupt your life excessively, do not go to a Dr. Like the other fellow said, it follows you your whole life and will seriously screw with your chances to do things that you might not have even thought of now.
Same thing applies to parents who unintentionally screw up the lives of their kids by getting them ADHD diagnoses.

Hell, it helps me with my job a great deal. I always have to have things neat and orderly. Being this way is not a bad thing.

If you truly had OCD you'd be checking this thread every 5 minutes.
Therefore I conclude you do not have it.
That'll be $400, please. I accept cash and cashier's checks. No insurance, no personal checks.

Nothing quite like a woman with a small measure of psychology education. They like to apply it to EVERYTHING.

What is the name of the sickness that the girl had that made her keep taking the top book off your stack and moving it?
according to women... all men are sick. As children... they can't act like women so they need to have ritalin pumped into em... as adults some of them can't act like women soo...

OCD? Concerned, go see a real doctor, not these bafoons on here..
Only me and idiots ask for medical advice on this forum..

You might not want to put that up for a vote. :rofl

Just because you like things particular way does not make it a freaking disease. Some people can live in **** without being bothered, and some enjoy being organized. There is nothing wrong with that.

<---advice from actual medical guy
If it interferes with your ability to function normally in work, school, or personal life.....MAYBE worth checking out.
If it doesnt interfere with anything -- i.e. you get test papers done in the time allowed, you only leave the house once in AM without needing to recheck anything, etc -- then you only have tendencies.
Research seems to show that OCD is caused by an extremely powerful "error check" pathway in some people's brains, so that no matter how many times they reassure themselves they HAVE TO double check that the oven's turned off, or whatever.
There's a big spectrum for error check tendencies, and its not "abnormal" if you're careful, or focus intensely on a task or pastime.
Honestly...do you want an accountant or lawyer or doctor who's favorite phrase is "Yeah, whatever"?
I dont think you have a problem from what you say! Relax....and chose tasks that take advantage of attention to detail, etc because they may come naturally to you.
-
So if you get too bad, will you turn into Rain Man?
-
I suck at math.
-
Do you have these tendencies?
Telling everyone your an excellent driver
Shopping at K-Mart
Going to bed at 11pm
Not going outside when it rains
Watching Jeporady at 5pm

Women are always wrong. We just choose to make them believe that they are right.
