well since it seems we will never get another bomber that is worth spending perks on.
what if we were enabled an option to buy additional bombers to add to your formation, maybe like 20 perks per additional plane.
my reasoning is that we may see more bombers used properly, people will have a formation of like 7 or 8 planes so they wont be recklessy flying on the deck. they will have around 120 perks invested in theyre formation.
also they will take the time to climb for altitude because they know that even if they do come across that random guy that likes flyin around at 30k, he'll have a hell of a time tryin to take on the barrage of .50 cals from the large formation.
i think this would be good for everyone, bomber people would like it and fighter people wouldnt have to see so many divebombing lancs.
just an idea
-
this sounds very cool:D :aok
-
Love the idea bagrat u homo
-
I think this idea could work, and I would love to have a box formation of eight to attack zone bases. I would just give the option for 100 perks to have an entire box formation instead of adding one at a time.
-
just imagine the possibilitys, 8, 10, no 20 Lancs! i could level the Rook and Bish HQ in one pass lmao
-
Great Idea :aok

There would have to be an upper limit per sortie, and I'm not sure how the code would handle the addition of more bombers. Maybe a double row...6 total, 3 and 3? Rear row a few feet above and behind.
With the right salvo and delay, it would be great at taking out towns, cities, and strat factories. Overkill for hangars, unless using smaller bombs in tight salvo, and even then, the perks spent might not be justified by targets hit.
One detractor.... the linked turrent guns.... I don't know if it is a graphics thing, or where the fire from multiple turrents intersects beyond the buff that is being flown. From my external view, it looks as if the two other cannons firing are firing wide of the plane I'm shooting at...... could only be worse with larger formations, and depending on positioning, could result in more killshooter problems.
But, yeah, spend the perks, so much per buff added up to the formation limit.
I'd like _something_ to spend buff perks on.... only thing now is the Ar234, and I only really fly 3 Arados at a time to quickly take out a CV at range.
In the end, redoing code to allow larger formations would probably be more difficult than adding another bomber to the game would be.
-
before we do this lets get the option to have different formations with the 3 bombers we have now, but nice idea though i like it
-
Right, because eroding the need for team work is clearly the best way to a better AH community tomorrow...:huh
-
imagine 999000, with 6 or more buffs in formation, it would be like giving Moil a quad-barreled ostiwind.
-
sounds like a really good idea...About the teamwork thing...since when has this game ever been about that lol I have never in 2 years of flying buffs ever had a fighter fly with me and back from a target. You are riight at least we could spend the perks on something. How would that affect the amount of gunners you could have...???
-
there are bomber guys out there with well over 20,000 perks. imagine a formation of 200 bombers just for the heck of it? (10 guys with 10 bombers each)
frame rates would be in the negative digits, let alone other gameplay issues.

So you are going to tell me about how you can capture a base all by yourself? Or with one other helper (because you're a 3 bird bomber flight, you need a goon).
I'm not talking about 2am on Wednesday... Or for that matter 10am on wednesday... Prime time Sunday... And I'm not talking about base A672 900 miles from the front.
A frontline primetime capture with 2 guys. Lets see you do that.
AH IS about teamwork, thats why squads are so big.
You give 10 bombers to for perks and now you do have 2 man raiding parties taking frontline bases... I dunno, seems like if you want a two man game you could hook up a head to head session rather than complaining about teamwork in the main.
-
nah i dont think it will be such a big hit to the FR, ive flown in furball with atleast 50 people an FR was barely effected.
and as for the teamwork conflict, it really isnt a big deal.
-
I think it comes back to the buff drivers wanting SOMETHING other than the Arado to spend their perk points on.
Should I make another request for the A-26B Invader? I'd much rather see a German or Soviet heavy bomber to even out the plane sets a little, but I'd have a blast taking on LTARS in this little ol' baby:

thats 50...
I have been part of 50+ person bomber raids, thats 150 planes +...
frame rate was in the single digits for many many of the pilots.

I wouldn't mind being able to get additional bombers for my formation, but I think you would have to limit it to 3 additional bombers maximum. Even with only 3 additional bombers, gunnery is going to be a problem since I am in the lead bomber.
The idea would be great if the CT technology lets each bomber gun for itself, and you were just leading the drones to target (which would be more realistic anyway).
It would also be nice to be able to specify the formation somehow - box, line abreast, line astern, etc. The problem with that was that you would typically have a high and low squadrons - a combat box of 20 bombers would typically have 6 in the lead, and 7 in the high and low squadrons. I don't know how HT could model that, or if it would be worth all the programming effort.
Still, I'd like something besides the Ar-234 to spend all those bomber perks on.

Sounds nice, but once again, goes back to team-work. Instead of having huge rading missions which are a "team-effort". You've got half the effort to work with. There has to be a limit, seriouslly, considering that some of these people have massive stock-piles of perks. You just can't have a huge formation of these birds flying overhead expecting each one to be an individual!
Some have mentioned 3 is max, I say 2. Although this sounds un-realistic, place the 2 underneath the already provided 2 drones. That would clear up any gunnery problems with the exception of some alignment. Plus then you would know if it's 1 formation your attacking, or 3.
Also, limit these options to particular aircrafts. So that way you dont have formations of C-47's flocking at you which are in particular drones. Limiting the "buy more drones" to particular bombers would aid to keep the AH "team-work" spirit alive.

How about paying another 100 bomber perks for two AI controlled fighter escorts.....
Come on guys.
Just need a pe-8 or a grandslam bomb on a lanc.
However i do agree we need stuff to spend bomber perks on.....

That sounds awesome, then goes back to the AI code. How will AH make a code to where you have escort fighters that will defend you?

re: A-26B-60-DL Invader
Yeah, they'd have to perk it like a Me262, but I'd pay the price to fly that bird!
6K of bombs on the GV'ers then massive strafing attacks..... and the ability to outrun much of the planeset. And 2 turrents. Fun.......
Not to mention filming the first dweeb that tried to HO me.......
I'd be flying high buffs more often again just to earn points to play with it.
Seriously, something other than 262 for buff perkies.... or allow me to turn them in for fighter or GV perks at 2 for 1 ratio......
-
There are several bombers that would be perked.
The A-26 Invader.
The Mosquito B.Mk XVI.
The B-29A Superfortress.
One or more of those is sure to be added at some point in the future.

I'd definitely pay for that Mossie with the 4,000Lb Can'0'Bomb! A-26 would be fun, but I doubt we'll ever see a B-29.

Hitech or anyone at HTC does not have access to the wish list its just here so we can amuse ourselves.

Sort of funny.... Krusty has a thread in the General Discussion looking to get rid of the drones because..yadda..yadda..yadda. ...
And here, we have the idea of adding MORE drones to the flight for spending some perkies.
Kind of thig to give fiter jocks the case of the hives and nightmares.
"Buff Drivers Are Paying Customers Two, HTC!" (and, ultimately, Arados are not all that great......).

Wouldnt beable to give bomber pilots anything without giving 2 of something better to fighter pilots.
ABout this idea. If you search back this has been brought up a few times. My opinion is that it would be cool. But I think a new bomber would be a better way to spend perks.
-
I can't see htc adding more drones because the formations would constantly be used for killing the HQ by one guy at a time. Take 10 Lancasters and the odds are, enough will get through. Next, imagine the strat dead all over the map, killed by a single dedicated buff squad in each country.

Actually, taking out HQ just results in a massive resupply effort, back up in no time. Unless you prok the fields around it, and take out the zone city, the effect does not last long enough to bother with HQ raids.
And, Id guess an upper limit of six total planes would be in order for 1 pilot.
My wish for the larger boxes would be to take on strat targets....the cities and factories.... Bring them into the game more.
Defending fighters would be the response to larger buff flights. And remember, wed lose perks for all the buffs we dont get home. Not like we would all be upping extra drones all the time.... not cost effective that way. I doubt the extra turrents would prove very effective either .... drones seem to fire a bit off from your target. No real calibration there.
-
Yeah, but you would have to be really careful not to make sharp turns and lose your drones. That would be a pretty dumb way to lose perks.
-
The following would be a simple modification for HiTech to add to the game, but would give a new use for bomber perks and also improve gameplay by eliminating the dweebish bomber tatic that has taken over the MA known as "Drop Load and Auger".
If you have the formation box checked and you want to take the 2 drones with your bomber it will cost you 100 perks. This way there will be incentive for the bombers to complete their mission and land their drones at a base or they will be loosing perk points.
Something like this:
If you don't check the formation box and only take a single bomber it costs no Perks
If you check the formation box it costs you 100 Perks but you now have 3 bombers
Sucessfully land all 3 bombers and you get the 100 perks back
Land 2 bombers and you get 75 perks back
Land 1 bomber and you get 50 perks back
Land 0 bombers and you loose all 100 perks
This way the Bombers are rewarded for compleating their mission instead of the dweebish "Drop and Auger" tatics that are starting to get out of control in the MA now!!!!

For the buff pilots this would work. They have 1,000s stored away. But for those who look to fighters more or new players. 200 would take a long time to get. I think 100 is more fair for all.
-
Agree, 100 works better, I modified my
post
-
10 would work much better.
100 is ludicrous considering how insignificant the additional bombers are.
They miss the target and their guns are mostly useless against attacking fighters.
Even 10 is a silly concept though.
-
I LOVE THAT I IDEA!!! As a bomber guy, I think this is awesome, because the more planes I can have in the air at once, the cooler!!!

Okay, then, how do you propose to punish the fiter-dweebs who's claim to defensive tactics is to: up, HO and ram, up, HO and ram, up, HO and ram.... as fast as they can against attackers? Often without taking damage themselves? I've been having fighters ram my buffs in flight as well lately.
Or fiters that suddenly start to warp wildly when you get on their six?
Tired of arcade antics of the MA, try the SEA then. Much more mature.

And this would improve gameplay how? By making it easier to sink a fleet? By making it easier to take down the hangars? By making it easier to carpet bomb the spawn points in the TT areas? By making it easier to pork strat targets and HQ? By making it easier to piss off a lot more people? By making it easier to survive NOE bombing runs? Who would try to intercept a formation of 8 planes with between 20 and 40 syncronized guns firing back at them?
I'm just not seeing this as accomplishing anything that is good for HTC.

Well....if more drones bother people THAT much...fine....just give us buff drivers one or two planes worth spending perkies on,other that the Arado.
I vote for the A-26B-60-DL Invader....again..... :t

Greetings,
Keep formation as they are in the program. Formation button requires expenditure of perkies. Don't care how many - other smarter ppl can figure that out!
Very the rate that bombs fall to a random number - either by varying the rate of fall of each bomb or delay release from bomber by a random 1/10 of a second or so to reduce the accuracy of high level bombing. The lower the drop, the less effect of the variation. Currently not all .50 cal rounds from a given MG go to the exact same place, why should inducing variation in bombs be that difficult?
Don't know about the intentional ram thing, I tend to accidentally ram when closing to fast (slowly learning there is a 'turn' and 'slowdown' option ;) However, I do pay a penalty for suiciding into a bomber - I return to the tower, you keep flying with the other two. Another option for the bomber is to fly higher and prevent the 'reupping' of suiciders cause when they get back to 15k, you are half way home.
Regards,
-

NO YOU IDIOT!!! THAT IS QHAT WE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT!!! If you make high-altitude bombing even HARDER, MORE people will be dive-bombing Lancasters and TFFing B-17s!!! Its not us 20k bombers people are bothered by, its those low-level guys. Bombing from that high is hard enough, because it takes a long time (I have to launch at LEAST 6 sectors from my target and decote at least 45 minutes to the run-up) you have cloud cover (Sometimes its thin and you can see right through, sometimes you cannot se anything) But if you now want to make it hard for us to bomb accurately from up there, I will be the only retard who bombs realisticly! As it stands I have to force some of my people to go up there, and all your suggestion would do is make the problem worse. Intensify ack. That is my solution. Make ack 100%. Make it so any bomber who dares venture under 16,000 gets incinerated before he gets his doors open. In real life any bomber down that low was as good as dead. They are too slow to avoid the ack. Set the skies on fire, and watch the Lancasters burn!
-
Sigh,
Idiot is such a offensive term. Perhaps you should consider a more appropriate post such as, "No, this will cause even more unrealistic actions such as dive bombing Lancs. I totally disagree with your idea." Which is a valid point. But that should be addressed in the flight mechanics (wings ripped off or compression etc . . . .)
You might as well say STFU, you have no contributions here.
However, high alt bombing is unrealistic in the game. You know it I am sure.
I agree with you on the ack. Dive bombing buffs and suicide LAs should face effective base defense.
Regards.
-
why dont you just perk the bombs?
it would make dive bombin lanc noobs go away
-
Sorry bout the idiot part, im just really annoyed at the fact that all of these ideas punish us high-alt. bombers more than they punish those dive-bombing lancs.
-
Greetings,
No prob, I need a thicker skin. I can see your point, I also wish the 4 engine dive bombers could be delt with in some manner.
Regards,
-
The funny thing is, the only thing they are good for is CV killers. They never seem to hit more than 2 hangars for all of their effort.
-
I can take a jeep to an enemy base and ping one of the buffs, the pilot flips out and augers all 100 of them into the ground. I then drive my jeep back to base and get 99999999 perkies for landing 100 kills in a jeep :)
-
If only that were true...
