Title: trackir gets unusable
Post by: HomeBoy on August 09, 2006, 08:32:17 AM
I'm just getting back into AH after over a year of hanging out on the darkside (falcon4).  During that time I purchased TIR4 and have been using it with great success with F4 as well as lomac.  This past weekend, I decided to get back into AH so I spent a lot of time getting my hardware setup for it.  TIR worked beautifully while I was testing offline.  However, last night, I decided to try h2h and found TIR to be almost unusable.

At first, it seemed ok.  But then when I got into a dog fight, I found the views would freeze and often pop back to the front view while I was looking up or 9:00, etc.  It acts like it's framerate related except that if I turn TIR off and use the ole fashion hat for viewing, everything is smooth as silk.  This is very discouraging.  I found a thread where Scuzzy told someone who was complaining about how vox was causing his TIR to stutter to back his sound accelerator back to 3/4.  I tried that too and it didn't help a bit.

If you have any ideas about this I should would appreciate the help.  Right now, this problem is ruining my return to AH.

Thanks much

Hmm, looks like I'm on my own on this one.

I hate it when I reply to my own postings.

Happen to have any other high data demand devices on your USB ports?

Thanks for the reply Scuzzy.
The only usb devices I have are those listed in my signature.  Do you think it could be something about my CH config map?  Maybe I should build a very simple one that includes only stick and throttle and unplug everything else?

Hmmm.  I reall do not see anything that would be a high data usage device.

Please go ahead and send in the output from DXDIAG to me.  There could a resource issue going on here.  I always suspect that when degradation occurs.  The potential for this should show up in the DXDIAG output.

I've had this problem before.  It lasted about 2 days.  I eventually uninstalled TIR4 and then restart computer.  Then I installed TIR4 back into my computer.  I don't remember if I had to redo my settings.  Anyways, it works fine now and has ever since.

Problem I had was that it felt like the viewing system was lagging and sometimes "out of range" for the sensors.

Thanks for the good responses.

Kermit, the way you describe the problem you had sounds very much like what I'm experiencing.  Thank you for for that.

I am going to try Kermit's suggesting of reinstalling TIR4 and it that does not do the trick, I will send you (Scuzzy) my dxdiag output.

Thank you very much for your suggestions

BTW, great movie kermit.  That shoud be a classic up there with the Falcon4 film HammersOfCrom!

Thank you Kermit!  Reinstalling tir4 appears to have fixed my problem too.  That's a strange one.

I had a problem when I tried running my TIR on the same powered USB hub as my CH gear. They don't like each other on the same hub.

Try plugging your TIR into other USB ports than the one it's in now.
