I want to take this moment to confess my undying love for the Carl's Jr. Pastrami Burger.

There... I said it.

I miss Carl's Jr's around here.  They got bought out with the provision they would stay out.  Really sucks.  I have to drive to Oklahoma to get a Carl's Jr's sandwich.
There is/was a Carl's near Austin.  Not sure if it is still around.  It was around before Carl's Jr came to the DFW area and was not subject to the buyout conditions.

Anyone know if there is a Carl's Jr. in western NY state?
Nice weather...I wouldn't mind taking a trip to check them out.

If these guys are all talking about them being down south, I'd assume no.

Now a chain from the south that I enjoy is Bojangles.  Man, those are some tasty chicken fingers and potato wedges...  I never really got into their biscuits, though, which makes me a bit of a pariah when I visit my friends in the Carolinas :noid

I have never heard of Bojangles.  What part of the south are they in?  Local or chain?  Specialty?  Restaurant or fast food?

Hmm, that sounds pretty tasty.

My favorite place to eat here in the Denver metro area is Quizno's subs. The mesquite chicken with bacon on wheat with extra cheese and extra bacon....mmmm.....

Thanks Sandman, now you have me salivating heavily. :D

I am lucky enough to have been able to try Carls Jr and they are pretty good.  On our little trip this summer to Carson City, to see my granddaughter,  I got to eat at Carls Jr in Bishop Ca, Carson City Nv, and Flagstaff Az,  the Jalapeno Burger was very good and the jalapenos were crisp not mushy like some places.   My only complaint is they put mayo on hamburgers, bleeck,.. easy enough though to order it without mayo and order extra mustard.   by the end of the two weeks my wife was tired of eating at Carls,  I had a lot of fun pointing out all the Carls Jr to her during the trip,  she appreciated it :lol

As far as In-And-Out goes, they're alright.  They just have a very simple menu,  although I hear there supposed to be a super secret menu you can see if you know where to find it  :t  Theres an In-Out across the street from our offices in Pleasanton Ca,  I ate lunch there one day, and I would eat it again,.... if there wasnt a Carl's Jr around;)

Oh you guys are lucky!

All I have around here in the usual Wendy's/Burger King/McDonalds/Subway bit.

I usually wind up getting a steak & cheese (or whatever is on special) at the local mom & pop sandwich shop

Thing is, its murder up here on the coast of Maine this time of year.  Im just a few miles from Acadia National Park, so its a hassle fighting the traffic to get in and out.

Elfie, Jason's Deli is cheaper and (according to my step dad) is better.  I personally enjoy the beef eater, like a French Dip with mayonnaise and provolone, dip in au jous MMMM.

They're all over the Carolinas and I've heard they're in other east coast southern states as well...

Yellow sign, red lettering, Bojangles.  Oh sooo good.

It's a fast food chicken shop, sort of like KFC, but oh, so much better :D

That sounds really good!

There is a place in Lincoln NE called DaVinci's. They sell pizzas and sub sandwiches. They have a truly uber pastrami sandwich.....

I havent seen a Jason's Deli out here yet. Quiznos puts Subway to shame, not that that is hard to do. :D  In fact, I refuse to eat Subway after having Quiznos heh.

*edit* Oh yeah....none of you have lived until you have had a cheese Runza. :D

When it comes to sandwiches nothing even comes close to a Reuben.   Here in Michigan we have two good joints, Wheat N Rye and the Bread Basket.   $7 get's you a sandwich that allows 1/2 to be eaten the next day.

We have a place in Denver called NY Deli.  Sandwiches are huge, and they allow you to eat 1/2 the next day.  All the other delicious deli sandwiches as well as the Reuben.

Because I don't go up north very often the closest Jason's I know of is off I-225 By the Aurora Mall, not sure it's THAT good to make you drive for a half hour though.  But yeah, not hard to take Subway to the washers.  Jason's Deli (http://www.jasonsdeli.com/)

Carl's was the best fast food in all the Southland. With the exception, maybe, of In N' Out burger.

For burgers, awfully fond of the ones at Uno's and Applebee's.  Five Guys is a local favorite but too greasy for me.

For steak all-time favorite is Outback.

Eck Runza.  Their burgers are mediocre, on par with McDonald's, and the first time I had food there it was cold.  I never could understand why people like that place, but it was a local favorite where my grandparents used to live in Nebraska.

If I've been known to drive two hours for a gas station hot dog in RI, I can drive for a box of Bojangles.

I dunno, they must put something in it :D

(and for the love of God no one had better post any theories and ruin my blissful ignorance :D )

Ummmmmm Bojangles  aaaaaaaaaaaa

The one thing I miss about Havenot, NC is Bojangles.  I would see a KFC commercial and have to make a run to BJs.  They just need to move one state west and I'm back to snacking on dirty rice and pintos.

For those in the Midwest, North, and Northeastern US, Carl's Jr. = Hardee's.  Same menu, same names, same Star logo, same everything.  Freaked me out when I moved and found this Carl's Jr. place with my familiar Hardee's menu.  Food is just as good though.

Does Carl's Jr have the full breakfast menu of Hardee's?  All the yummy biscuit sandwiches? There are subtle differences in the menu. There are no pastrami burgers at Hardee's that I am aware of.

Hardee's biscuits > Bojangle's biscuits.

Not having the ol' In-N-Out here is a real horror show, my brothers. :furious

Bonjangles is good - yes much better than KFC - remember them from living in NC.

Jason's Deli French Onion Soup is the bomb.

Carl's Jr/Hardee's is good also - hate some of their commercials - like the one with the gal washing the car eating the burger.  And the one with the fireman eating the Jalapeno Burger - is it really that "hot"?  Been afraid to try.

Steak 'n' Shake good also.  Wattaburger around here is good at 2am after the bars close.

But there is NOTHING like tying one on and going to WhiteCastle for their burgers - little morsels from heaven!  A very good friend of mine introduced me to the whole WhiteCastle experience on a weekend trip a couple of years back.  Wish they had them here in OK.

I think we have both Hardee's as well as Carl's Jr in Colorado.  The closest Carl's Jr closed a few years ago, they had a good spicy chicken sandwich that was good to refill your fat stores after a nice workout (which was often what my family did).
