Title: 2 objects in the same place
Post by: croduh on August 10, 2006, 05:38:04 AM
How can i disable the effect of seeing one surface through another  when i have 2 surfaces in the same position? It's bugging me alot.

Thanks

You can use "ZBias=1" tag for the one at the top, for the one which should show.... if that is what you were asking. Although the best thinng is usually to avoid co-planar polygons at same location.

I am working with ground over water, would it still work?

EDIT: yup, works pefectly, thanks

Yes, but if you want to place some objects on that ground, do it in OE, not in TE. Otherwise the ground will sometimes appear through the objects.

Karelia terrain custom coastlines and Viipuri city are made by placing various flat ground objects over water.

Say BlauK, didn't you have trouble with GV spawns to "ground" tiles over water?  I was thinking you could put a runway object under the "ground" tile to make it work, or that type of thing.

Yup, but GV spawn randomized area is quite large. Therefore the runway should also be large and it would also always give landed results from that whole area.

So could be possible to do, but maybe not always what one wishes :)

We did not actually try it with spawns since it was fairly easy to find real land nearby and move the spawns there.

In Viipuri town I placed a small runway piece under the ground object to be able to put a map room on top of it.

Yes i do put all the objects in OE, since the cities are on those "islands" or "peninsulas".

Maybe offtopic but,
I was wondering if is it possible to slice the airfield runway objects, for an example "medrwy" and just use the part with the vechile spawn ?

Duh, there are already some smaller runway objects in the list.
IIRC "lot#" or something like that.

Right BlauK but you have to reset the Type to runway.

I didn't think about the maproom.  The troops usually die when dropped on water so I was wondering if they'll run on this setup or die.

I thought they were clutter but nvm.

What i was saying about using the part with vechile spawn for direct spawn.

There are no spawn points in those shapes until you add them so it doesn't matter if it's "medrwy" or "lot0".

Set a "spawn" point and override the Type to "Ftr Entry" or "Bomb Entry" or whichever one you need.

I tried with the "spawn" object but it didn't work?

I think it is named "entpnt" or something like that.

entrypnt is in the TE but not in the OE.

I remember now, spawn/Ftr Entry wasn't working for me either.

"Spawn" in the OE doesent work. Blauk told me once after I tried asking him how to make it work. It just adds an invisible object to your terrain which you can blow up with a few bullets. It's quite deceiving when your trying to shoot a ground target and you hit the "Spawn" instead of the target.

So, I reccommend you use "entpnt" from the TE.
