My old TM Xfighter finally crapped out (playing Taps)
It has served me well
In desperation I hooked up my sons Logitech extreme 3d pro.
Took me all of about 2 minutes to realise this peice of crap aint gonna cut it.
I've never used a less intuative....anything.
So its time for me to finally break down and take the leap to CH
Question. Which is better, the Combat stick or fighter stick.
More important question.
Inasmuch as no store around here carries them Im forced to buy online.
What is a reputable place to get one at a decent price?
Im ready to order one like....now LOL

Hi Dred,
I have a combat stick boxed as a sub for when my current stick dies.
I've always had twist sticks for rudder the CH sticks have no twist.
So you have 2 choices for rudder buy some pedals which will double your spending or map it to one of the rotary wheels.
This will be really weird for me to learn so im just waiting to get pedals before i launch into CH stuff.

Actually I had the third option..they keyboard for my rudder.
Which is what I've been using LOL
Where'd you get the stick?
Managed to do a temporary fix, which of course probably means it will never break again on my hatswitch which snapped off.
a snipped off peice of paperclip and a lighter can do wonderous things with plastic LOL
and metal wont snap off either
anyone have a proiblem with a hatswitch snapping off lemme know.
I have a great fix for it
Anyway. It bought me more time.
I just culdnt stomache that logitech stick

Try PROVANTAGE (http://www.provantage.com/ch~110CHPU.htm).
They have just about the best internet deals on CH Products that can be found...
For example the USB Fighterstick is currently listed for $87.68.

The olny but essential difference between the CS and the FS is that the CS has got 2 (4-way) coolie-hats less than the FS, it has a button each instead. Since you can never have "too many" (programmable!) buttons, I for one would always and seriously suggest to go for the FS!

I bought some of my ch stuff from amazon - it showed up the next day...lol I was laughing about that, cause I chose standard shipping. The Fighterstick is what you want :)
Looks like fightersticks / rudders / throttle are all around 95$ each. I've got a throttle quadrant - which make flying multiengines fun.

Out of interest I have only just changed my CH gear. For 10 years my gameport set has given perfect service and using dual boot I was able to programme the set with the old software through Win98 before rebooting back into XP to use. As the old CH gear retains the last template loaded, I hardly ever needed to use Win98! The set had the Combat Stick
My replacement - again all CH includes the Fighterstick instead. As mentioned elsewhere the stick is identical except that with more four way hats in place of buttons so you get another 6 places to put a command.
The only difficulty I have is retraining myself on the changes to the mapping that has been much the same since AHII came out. Overall changes to the gameport set include toe brakes on pedals now available and a mini stick on the throttle that I have assigned to mouse control.
Oh yes and with 3 modes available I can assign 3 commands to each button, only I won't! - I would suffer overload trying to remember it all!
I would recommend the Pro-pedal/Pro-throttle/Fighterstick to anyone. initial outlay is not cheap but when you compare the working life of the kit and its reliability, it works out a darn sight cheaper than most gear!
The Gameport gear I regret has been forced into retirement purely by need to go USB - it otherwise still works perfectly.
