"In a system as corrupt as ours has become, principles survive chiefly among those who occupy the political fringe—populists, pinks, aging New Leftists, agrarians, radical environmentalists, Catholic Workers, libertarians, and paleocons."<------------------This is left

I'll clarify before the question arises. Believing the left is exclusively principled is left.

Lukster, I disagree. These groups come from both extremes.

All of those groups look left to me with the possible exception of the catholic workers.

Maybe the libertarians too. No right groups that I can tell.

The definition of right and left depends on if you are facing north or south.

Some blame the media and politicians for causing divsion but when everyone is satisfied and happy our differences become less significant. I suppose that with communism, in it's truest form, without a "nomenklatura", everyone would be equally miserable. To me, the left is communism. I'm still still undecided about what the right is other than the opposite of the left.

Think I'll have another Margarita, just discovered Jose Cuervo Tradicional. ;)

if your standing on the north pole, there is no east or west, every direction is south.

i don't know how that fits the topic but it's late and I've had lots of wine.

I had a little trouble reading the rest of ol pat after he quoted himself and used the term "loosen the saftey catch on our revolvers"   In all the history of firearms.... I only know of one ill fated and short lived revolver that had a safety catch.

I believe in a constitutional republic with a strong bill of rights that recognizes that all men are created equal and given god given human rights that government can not take away.   I believe in a very small central government with a miniscule standing army.

These views have made me seem left by the right at times and right by the left allmost all the time.

There once was a musical troupe
A pickin' singin' folk group
They sang the mountain ballads
And the folk songs of our land

They were long on musical ability
Folks thought they would go far
But political incompatibility led to their downfall

Well, the one on the right was on the left
And the one in the middle was on the right
And the one on the left was in the middle
And the guy in the rear was a Methodist

This musical aggregation toured the entire nation
Singing the traditional ballads
And the folk songs of our land
They performed with great virtuosity
And soon they were the rage
But political animosity prevailed upon the stage

Well, the one on the right was on the left
And the one in the middle was on the right
And the one on the left was in the middle
And the guy in the rear burned his driver's license

Well the curtain had ascended
A hush fell on the crowd
As thousands there were gathered to hear The folk songs of our land
But they took their politics seriously
And that night at the concert hall
As the audience watched deliriously
They had a free-for-all

Well, the one on the right was on the bottom
And the one in the middle was on the top
And the one on the left got a broken arm
And the guy in the rear, said, "Oh dear"

Now this should be a lesson if you plan to start a folk group
Don't go mixin' politics with the folk songs of our land
Just work on harmony and diction
Play your banjo well
And if you have political convictions keep them to yourself

Now, the one on the left works in a bank
And the one in the middle drives a truck
The one on the right's an all-night deejay
And the guy in the rear got drafted

Whatever is to your left will be on your right if you do a 180

If you turn left 720 then what was on your right will still be there when you are done looking like a spinning fool.

Is that some old Norwegian saying, passed down generation to generation?
