Title: Game freeze upon 1st use of flight recorder
Post by: RTGorkle on August 16, 2006, 12:17:07 AM
Greetings workers.... and Skuzzy.

When I log onto AH in the evening and first turn on my flight recorder, my game temporarily freezes whilst my PC performs a bunch of hard disk activity. This will break my AI bomber rubber bands every time (if I'm in buffs) and has now started to dump me out of the game with a lost host connection.

Is no big deal, but I suspect it's something that somebody at HTC can easily explain so that I might take steps to alleviate it.

Or you could break out the source code and amend the line that says "Public Const DUMP_GORKLE_ON_FIRST_CAM_USE = 1".

Fanks.

If you have a ton of videos in the folder, it can kill in-game performance and make recording take longer, apparently. Just something I heard somewhere.

Moving the films somewhere else is supposed to help. I don't see how, but hey.

Could be right. I've got a SQUILLION films in there. Maybe AH is scanning through all the files in there looking for the next free filename in sequence. Or something.

Perhaps the number of files in there has now grown so much that the delay has reached the point that it's getting me dumped - coz that bit has only just started since I started using the recorder again.

I'm sure Skuzz can tell us :)

Will give it a go. Thanks, man.

Like OOZ said. Clean out your films folder. (or move them to another directory)

Thanks Ooz and Schatzi.
