That spinner looks pretty dark to me..

Just have to keep in mind that the red spinners was a theater marking for Allied fighters.

I wasn't aware of that Dan, is that some sort of high command directive?

Yep.  You'll note that the MTO Spits, Mustangs, 38s etc all had red spinners.  Jugs had red cowl bands
