Does anyone know of any freee programs IE google earth or NASA whirlwind that you can get a topograghical map with a "as the crow flys" distance measure (strait line from point to point, not a mapquest)
It must be relativly new with uptodate with in 2 years and have accuracy at least to the tenth of a mile.
Ive been trying the new version of Nasa whirlwind but the meaqsure feature doesnt work. or are there and "ADDONS" that work for it?

IIRC google earth does that, and possibly the micro$oft one.
back when i had google earth here at work i figured out hot to do just that accidently... i know it is not "obvious"

Google Earth has it its under the Tools menu. I just don't know how accurate the information is. According to the tool its 580.06 miles in a straight line from Dallas, TX (interstate intersection) to Birmingham, AL where I-65 and I-20/59 meet.
