So i've made a vow that I'm going to primarily fly LAs next tour. Why? Because I'm sick of 'em! Maybe (just maybe, by cod!) I'll ram that feeling right back down their own throats!! HAHAHAH!
Okay, so how's about we have a "Try A New Plane" tour? Just fly something you normally don't. If you already fly the 109G14 a lot, flying the 109G6 doesn't count. Not a different type, but a different plane. If you're a 38 junkie fly the P47, or if you're a lgay pilot, try the dora.
Get the idea?
What do you think? Who's up for an unofficial "Fly A New Plane" tour?
You can post your thoughts on the plane as the month progresses, but you've got to stick with it. Heck the learning curve for 1 plane is a long time, you won't even scratch the surface (unless you choose "spitfire" -- which 90% of you already fly, can't select anyway! :lol ).
Any takers? Have to claim in advance. Not saying you can't fly other things, but when you're not in a mission, when you're not doing squad night, you need to fly this type of plane. Then after a tour you will have a greater understanding of it and can fly whatever the heck you like.

pass.

It's just a thought. If you don't like there's no obligation. This is along the lines of the "Best kills in a P40B" idea from some time back.
-
Actually, I kind of do that now. I have a "Plane of the Month" that I'll fly when the squad isn't doing anything official. My favorite ride is still the Hog, but I force myself to fly other stuff just to get a better understanding of them. Last month was the Hellcat, this month is the 38J, and I'm still working on next month. Maybe the Mossie, or one of the Japanese planes.

Are you doing this just to have an excuse to be Lghay all month?;)
Actually we've been doing just what you suggest in 880 squadron. We started twe months ago with the F4U1D , last month was the F4F, this month is Hellcat month.:)
-
Spit 16 ok?
-
Krusty I'd thought about doing this about a month ago myself. Generally I fly the 51 or the 38 but I'm thinking next tour either a spit or the f4u. I'll save the LA LA for last because I hate hate HATE them since they kill me all of the time :)
-
It's not so much an "excuse" as it is "I threatened that I'd jump, so I'm gonna jump!"

should I hold your beer and 'watch this'? :)

I'm sure my famous last words will be more like: "Crap. Oh, crap! OH CRAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa........ (*splat*)"

Dangit Krusty I laughed so hard a chunk of ice wet up my nose :lol
-
I've been itching to get in a Pony B lately... But I'm not giving up my Hog for a whole month :)
-
My trouble is that I cant pay attention to one plane long enough to be sure what I'm switching from.

If you're already spitting ice, then it HAS to be the P-40 with the Aleutian Tiger on it!
-
good point!!! *runs to look one over

Im thinking of trying the 202 out. Gonna take alot of trying and dying but I think it will be fun. This past camp I flew mostly P40E. Id do the B but its too related for this.
If you havent used the P40E much, I recommend it. But you need to fly it more than 2 days to give an opinion. This is a perfect opportunity.
-
You know, this is a great idea. I think next month I will fly the Hellcat.
-
been doin it ..have done it ..got the T-shirt an stuff.
It's a great way to get a handle on just where the weaknesses are in other planes.
In AW for a long time I useda fly the stang one camp, then a different plane for the next camp, then back to the stang .. etc .. for years.
In AH.. since I am still learnin to shoot and learnin where the break points are for lead turns an such .. I am flyin the Spit 9, 5, and 8 this camp, depending on mission of the moment.
Next camp will be stang camp for me.. B an D.
Then Niki-Ki types. .. then back to stang . . etc.
After a coupla years I will be 'good' in the stang .. again :)

Ill move from 38Ls and 38Js to 38Gs.....problem solved.
-
I've pretty much always done this, and it's pretty much prevented me from learning any one plane well enough to be dangerous to anyone but myself.
Therefore I strongly suggest that everyone flies a plane they hate next camp, so maybe I can kill someone. That would be great.

I know, lets all fly la7s & spit16s!
Oh wait, we did that last night..........

I sent out a cry for help and yall didn't stop me, so I jumped, RT, I jumped!
Should be.... "enlightening".

Another variation for those with no patience is to try the old Air Warrior "Cycle" (harder to do here) of at least one kill in every PILOT gunned plane in the MA in a month.

MIShill that could be fun too. I tried out the 202 tonight. I got 13 kills with 8 deaths. The thing isnt as slow as I thought it was. Its kinda weak, and the guns are rather lacking. Should be an interesting campaign.
-
I have been flying the zero this mnth like mad usually it british or american planes for me but not this month.
-
Sure I'll do it....hmmmm....what plane to pick?
Aha! I've got it!
I call 109s

Dicho..3 words for ya...Flaps, flaps,flaps.
The F4u is all about getting slow as quickly as possible. Seems odd, but thats about it.
