Title: Automotive trivia (13)
Post by: Jimdandy on February 17, 2001, 07:32:00 AM
In 1970 Dodge Daytona's and Plymouth Superbird's won how many of the 48 races run in 1970. Remember Richard Petty in that big winged monster. Remember the starting line up's. It looked like Indy and NASCAR put together. The days of big block NASCAR. The funny thing is it was the Superbird's and Daytona's that brought the era of regulations we live with today.

I am very very disappointed in the NASCAR fans. The Plymouth Superbird's and Dodge Daytona's dominated that year. It was their record setting speeds that helped bring and end to the big block stock cars. You might say they were the father of the restricter plate era to come. They won 38 of the 48 major NASCAR races.

I thought the Daytona was 30 MPH faster than the Superbird, and had a top speed of just over 200 MPH--but only for 1 year. (THEN the slower Superbird was introduced).

Not much of a Dodge fan tho, so probably wrong.
