Title: Bring back the old mission planner
Post by: Traveler on August 26, 2006, 10:20:10 AM
The new mission planner is not  improvement over the old mission planner.  With the old planner you could launch different elements of the same mission from different bases at stagered time intervals.  You cold give instructions for each elements route and alt.  The new tools you have little choice, everyone must leave at the same time and you can only provide one route, the is no alt infor included in the new planner.  Bring back the old mission planning tool please.

I like how this planner simplifies adding waypoints, and the ease of adding flights to the mission, but I also do miss how we could have different flights launch from different fields at different times.

Just make 2 missions launching the same time, as to deleteing a flight deleting a mission, that would be a bug, we will check it out.

Bump, If AH wants to get players to WORK TOGETHER. this might be someting worth looking into.....  Mabe take it to Bug reports? I haven't tried making a mission in new setup. Mainly cause I be a nobody but.... If what I have been reading on mission planner, my ideas would be bunk anyways.
Teamwork seems to have been lost somewhere. I am not shure what happened btwn AH1 beta, and now ????

I don't know about bugs in the new mission planner and that is not what I was commenting on.  My "WISH" is the they bring back the old mission planner as I found that it offered more latitude in mission planning.  You had the ability to launch from more then one airfield and stagger the launch departure times, set routs and define altitudes that you wanted your flight elements to fly at.  none of this is available in the new mission planner.  It's like we took a step backwards in mission planning.

Traveler: I just tested today, and we could make more than one mission at once. Have you tried that since the mission planer change?

Also the old planer will not be becoming back, yes it was more flexible, but taking out the options to make it quicker and easyier to use was very intentional.

Can you please add back in the join until time so we don't have to reset the start time within 2 minutes of the launch?

It is vital for efficient flight management to be able to bring up the current mission in progress and see who's flying what.

If you forget or get distracted, the mission details disappear 2 minutes after you launch and you don't know how many of what flight you have anymore.

Just that one eensy weensy item.

HTC Those who create missions. Have spent some time learning the ins & outs of the mission planner. Deleting options is a BAD idea imho. There may be more $ in the KISS rule. For the short term but, when they tire of the rinse & repeat. More depth is a GOOD thing.

As you can see from the other messages it does not work as you say you tested it.   Makes one wonder.

We fixed a host bug that was stoping you from making multiple missions. Previously you needed CM prives to do so, hence why we missed it in our testing.
