Title: Stupidest MMOG that you have played?

State the game name, number of players online, how long you played it, give a basic game description and what makes/made it stupid.

there was this cartoony one I thought was pretty stupid. Looked like adventures in candyland or something. There was millions and millions of morons. In fact pretty much everyone I met was a moron, or 10 years old. I played it for 2 days of a two week trial. Wow I thought this sucks. World of Morons is what they should have named it

Second Life.

Thousands of players... No point, you just literally are this person in this world doing whatever you do.

Its just a pornography megamall just like the rest of the intardnet.

Checked it out for about 2 weeks trying to find anything other than boobs... No luck.

Star Wars Galaxies.  I'm not interested in casting "blaster spells" at people and hoping that I roll a 'hit'.

Most of these MMORPGs are socialist games where "everyone is equal" and skill is less important than persistance.

World War II Online was the dumbest I have played. Stuck in 1939 and very rarely is there any input as to *how* you died, so no way of knowing what you did wrong so you can improve.

Asheron's Call 2.  I used to play Asheron's Call, which was a decent game, involved much thinking and a good amount of micromanagement.  I loved that game.

So one day I catch sight of AC2.  It's the sequel, so it must be better, right?  Wrong.  The producers made a graphically amazing game, but damn near made it for 5 year olds, instead of adults.  The playing mechanics were childish and easy, so was fighting, in and out of PK.

It should have been a clue to me that AC2 was trying to give away 2 week trials, and that AC2 never once achieved the subscriptions that AC ever did, even when AC was 4 years old at the time of AC2's release.

Dude...SWG was fediddleing awsome before the CU.....as a master weaponsmith I was having a blast.  I really enjoyed that game until the idiotic morons at SOE destroyed the game and made it into a childrens game.

Bah, that only happens with noob guilds :) Granted, I'm in a very old guild (pre-beta, 3rd in wow history to down rag/ony/nef)... but our raids are more like social gatherings. Live music, special games during boss encounters, no DKP, no armchair generals :)

All the npc's are FSM (finite state machines). Once the strat is on paper, all you have to do is meet the criteria and pay attention. If somebody can't follow simple, class-specific instructions they get the /gkick.

To get there though it takes very selective recruiting and personality screening.

I was in the minority that thought WOW was the suck compared to EQ.

I did the trial account of D&D online and I actually thought it was a nice departure from the usual routine. That is, go to mob spawn point of appropiate level hack-hack-hack Ding! Repeat.

I thought that simulated GM voice was a nice touch also.

Haven't tried DAoC yet.

I've had some really cool experiences in EQ. Like first time the party I was with went exploring deep into the Hole caverns. We came to the top of this HUGE waterfall and we're all just standing there gawking wondering how the hell we're going to negotiate it when one of us falls off the edge. And somebody made the comment, "ok, lets get our stories straight, he fell right? And things like this happened at least on a weekly basis, whenever I had enough spare time to do any adventuring worthwhile.

Unlike WoW these people could talk about more than anime or saturday morning cartoons. They knew the difference between a pilsner and a lager and actually brought home paychecks. Ok I'm being hyperbolic here, but my condescending generalization is apt.

Another thing about WoW that I didn't like was that there wasn't the same sense of community. There was no interdependancy between players. I breezed through to level 20 virtually solo then had to remind myself that it was a multiplayer game. Yeah, you could group. But grouping in WoW was sort of like some druggies getting together to go in on buying an 8 ball. What I mean is nobody really cared who the party members were or what they did or even why they were there, just needed some extra bodies.

Totally. The whole game is a race to chase carrots (loot) dangled in your face. Each patch new loot is added and the race starts all over again. Once you look at it from the outside in you wonder wth you were thinking playing that rat race of a game. And the dkp systems just made friends into rivals.

Gotta agree... SWG was good once upon a time... it started going to watermelon when they did the Jedi revamp.  Had lots of fun as a master combat medic >=)

Stupidest I ever ran up on was something about ancient egypt... can't remember the name of it, it's been awhile.

Gotta agree with World of Warcraft.

Coworkers are level gazillion or something and go into great details about their raids, yada yada.  Meanwhile Im suffering thru as a druid, trying to simply find things, etc

Just not my thing.

I was on the Star Wars Galaxies Beta.  It was actually a fun game for a bit.  But once it hit the streets and all the changes...again, I just lost interest.

I've played both WoW and City of Heroes.  As far as I'm concerned, WoW is too cartoonish, the characters stiff and unbending.  City of Heroes has more realistic movements modeled into it's characters, and more lee-way for shaping your character's appearance and fighting capabilities to your own desires.

CoH has its share of punk kids, but there's no avoiding it for this type of game.  Get on a team with a bunch of adults who know how to cooperate and the game becomes well worth the cost of the monthly subscription.

Asheron's Call was almost similar at the end of my time there.  Except everything was based around leveling.  Everyone leveled at the best spots, everyone worked hard to get that next level, no one ever payed attention to the game.

Case and Point:  As you go up the levels, the amount of experience needed grows exponentially.  So it is very time consuming to hit the high levels.  So time consuming, that most players missed all the cool stuff in the game.

Then the PK scene grew.  The highest level I ever got was level 55 (or 60, it's been a while).  While I was fighting against people who were levels 150+.  Now, that was a lot more experience on skills, yet I was still kicking their butts.  Then the PK Gods who taught me how to fight got bored (they were much higher level then I was) and I soon got bored.

I've recently jumped back into City of Villians. It's a MMPOG game but doens't have the loot table WOW had. There's not chasing gear to compete, it's how you "trick" your your skills that make you different from everyone else along with skill, and timing. I'm having fun with it. Play when I want and have my own unique toon too.

PVP has come to game and it's slowly catching on. The game was one big carebear circlejerk so the community is still torn between the costume contest chicks and the PVP aggressive players.

Here's a shot of my Villain

This guy?

Someone told me he looked a character on Tekken 4 named  Bryan Fury (http://www.tekken-official.jp/tk5ps2/character/img/bryan.jpg)

Never seen either till they were mentioned.

I'm sure you could make the Bobo guy easily in COV.
