Title: Achtung, Spitfeur! (BOB 2006)
Post by: Krusty on August 27, 2006, 11:59:39 AM
Have you ever wanted to travel to England? You can now see it first hand from 20,000 feet!

Have you been jealous of those little gits in London because you can't pull off the same accent at dinner parties? Now you can learn it directly from the POWs you shoot down!

Ever vow to get back at the Spitfire for all the dweebiness it holds in the MA? Now's your chance! Fight the weakest variant in the game!

Ever yearn to at least try on the leather underwear once? Now you can hop into some LW iron and fly to Britian! What's more you get to see things go BOOM!

Sign up for the Battle of Britain 2006! The LW needs you! Join our ranks and pound the British RAF into the rubble it so richly deserves to be!

"This scenario is scheduled for Saturdays, September 23, September 30, October 7, and October 14 at 3 pm Eastern US, 12 noon Pacific US, 8 pm UK, 9 pm Germany, 5 am next day (Sunday) Eastern Australia, 4 am next day (Sunday) Japan."

Woot.  Another opportunity to demonstrate that the 110C doesn't deserve it's bad reputation.

HA! Just got my pair of "lederhosen". Cool.

But they're very stiff and they squeak. Do I need to oil them or something? Can I wear them in a Messerschmitt on the way to England?

Looking forward to it

To be able to emulate what "the few" did 66 years ago is special.

Hopefully many Luft planes will end up scrap metal to do them justice.

Hrm... I might be willing to order my pilots not to kill the Hurricane with the white ghost painted on the nose... But any other compensation would be strictly monetary.

Well... word of advice, Biggs, don't use the war map as a bib! A high powered telescope could pick around the BBQ stains and see the flight plans you have marked on it!

EDIT: fixed "bib"

Anybody who's thinking about signing up... DO IT!

I did the last BoB, two years ago -- and it still is the highlight of my AH experience. Loads of fun, great balance, and a down-to-the-wire finish!

In the first post I put this link:

The LW needs YOU (http://ahevents.org/site/component/option,com_staticxt/Itemid,165/)

Go there. Log in to the AH Events webpage, and then you register via that link.

If you do not have an AH events login, create one. Then register.

Looking through the Luftwaffe roster, I see a bunch of very good fighter pilots -- we still need more bomber pilots.  I see Krusty has started a thread to recruit Ju 88 pilots.  Sounds good.

I would also encourage pilots to talk it up in the main arena and to recruit good bomber pilots there to the Luftwaffe side.

To all folks registering for the BOB06 with AHEvents

After you create your AH events account, log in and go into the profile, and UPDATE this page! This is the page you set your pilot name!

I have many pilots listed on my axis roster that have only a real name and e-mail, NO in-game ID listed!!! I need this info! Go in and update your profile and the next time the roster is printed off it will include it!

Thank you!

Both sides are going to have a challenge. In general it doesn't matter what side you're on -- you'll have fun! Specifically I like it when folks join LW, though ;)

Krusty,

I see that yo are he Axis CO.  I originally signed up for the Allied side, but am requesting o be changed to Axis in order to fly with my squad (Sky Knights) who've decided that they'd like to fly JU-88's.

Can you do this for me?

Danke!
