Title: Build your own SPitfire
Post by: ASTAC on August 28, 2006, 06:53:55 AM
Anyone seen this before? I just found it in Jane's "All the world's aircraft" the other day.

You can build one for ($AUD)118,250.00 (sorry too lazy to look up the conversion to USD.)

Pc's are really easy to build. I go to surplus auctions and get them really cheap then I can either do a little upgrading and have a really good PC or salvage all the parts in it and throw them in my parts bin. I even got a lot of 24 port hubs or routers or whatever they are for $1. They all work too :)

This isnt a spitfire, its just a plane that looks like a spitfire.  Check out the dismal performance data.

Top Speed: 222mph.

The aircraft has no negative G capability with the present engine configuration, as oil and fuel starvation will result.

Wow, you can get the feeling of flying the Mk I in that Mk 26.  :)

For under 300hp it isn't bad...  Looks like a nice little sport plane to me.

Find a real spit for $200k and you da man.  For anyone else who wants the look/feel of flying a spit, this is probably the only option.

nice read.  Sounds easy to fly, just like the real thing (relatively speaking ;)).

id be kinda torn. if i had 200k wether to buy it or to try and buy a ride in either a mig 25 or a F-15
personally id preffer the F-15 but, in reality getting a ride in the mig would be easier

unless eagle knows of a way to get a ride in a F-15 ....without actually joining the air force and be trained to fly it

The Blue Angels give rides for like $25,000 or a littl less not shure but my friend got to ride in one He sold a horse for like $55,000 and then went to the airshow in Ft. Worth Texas It's not a F-15 but It would still get your pucker factor going.
