I agree naps are good!!!
-
Their better when you sick.

I take what I call power naps everyday at work during my lunch break. I get 45 min for lunch and I soundly sleep 20 to 25 min of it. I've done it enough I can fall asleep in less than a minute and wake up the same time each time.
I really miss my naps when I can't take them. They really do seem to recharge the batteries.

Back when I was younger, a nap would wreck me...I wouldnt be able to sleep all night later on. It was like I plucked an hour from my regular night time sleep.
Now that the body has gone beyond 30...oye! Grab em when you can!

the spanish might still have the "siesta" I'm not sure. taking off two hours in the middle of the day to eat, relax & maybe nap is a wonderful thing. naps get a :aok from me.

I'm awake now. Should have stayed asleep.

Naps rule, I wish I could take naps

mmmmm......naps...........wor k sucks.....naps rule

I wish there was some way to recover the nap time that I wasted as a kid. Now a nap is more precious to me than gold. At present I can put my head down at any time of the day and be asleep within 5 minutes, with any amount of caffeine on board.
For instance, last month I was driving home dog tired from Charlotte after a committee meeting and I had to drink 2 cans of Red Bull just to keep relatively aware and awake. I finished the last one not 15 minutes before pulling into the driveway, and managed to go to sleep 10 minutes after that.
So yeah, naps are good.
Maybe I can arrange to buy some of that free time Meatwad says he has a surplus of. ;)

Never had any use for them for as long as I can remember. Different strokes....

I'm Spanish and I get my daily siesta. I go home at 2 PM, have lunch, sleep about 30-40 minutes, then back to work at 4 PM. I can do this because it just takes about 15 minutes to get home from my office. Commuters working in the big cities can't afford to do that anymore, so they have more standard schedules.
-
Interesting Takeda...what time do you start and finish your workday? Maybe time to move to Spain. :)

It's a bit complex, i'll explain:
I have to clock 35 hours a week, 9 AM to 2 PM monday-friday are mandatory, then at least 8 of the rest have to be in the afternoon (between 4 and 8 PM) whenever I choose to do them. I usually work 8:00 AM - 2 PM daily, then 4 to 8 PM mondays and tuesdays. Some weeks i'll do 4-6 PM from monday to thursday instead.
That means I give away a couple of hours each week, but I like my job well enough and that helps in keeping HR off my back when I need some leeway, because they always owe me once they go through the records.
I have a ton of holidays too.
That fits well our eating patterns: very light breakfast, a coffee and a small treat around 11 PM, the heaviest meal of the day at 2:30, then "merienda" about 6 PM, dinner at 9PM
Most spaniards work closer to a 40 hour week with a similar schedule to mine in small towns, but as I said that's not possible in Madrid or Barcelona, where people work more like 8AM to 4:30PM and eat at work. People complain if they are forced to follow the traditional schedule in those big cities.
And then there's unpaid overtime and crappy work conditions too. I used to put 50-60 hours/week in an internet boom era meatgrinder before I landed my current cushy position.
If you are really thinking about moving, bear in mind that our salaries are pretty much stuck in the crappy zone, while our prices are going all european since the introduction of the Euro. :(

Naps are necessary when I'm averaging 4-5 hours of sleep a night. Of course, if I didn't nap, I'd sleep longer at night.
I nap so I can stay up longer, so I can work more, so I can take more naps, so I can stay up longer, so I can work more, so I can take more naps, so I can stay up longer, so I can work more, so I can take more naps......
The End

I remember hating nap time in kindergarten. I'd just lie there waiting to get up. I worked rotating shifts for years in the AF. When I worked nights I couldn't sleep more than four hours a day because I had a hard time sleeping during daylight hours. Never took naps. Time enough to sleep when yer dead. ;)

they do. and I can. But try not to too much cause if I nap for more then an hour Im up till all hours of the night.
But I can go to sleep whenever I want, anywhere I want. in any position.
People tell my I could probably go to sleep on a picket fence during a rock concert.
Course Red wine helps sometimes ;)

Yeah, too long naps can be nasty. Sometimes, during holidays or a weekend I've had a 2 hours mid day nap, and waking up from those is weird. I get all disoriented, can't tell what time of the day it is and need at least 30 minutes to get my wits about me.

I get that way after a good bowel movement.
