And I don't think anyone is hiring except for Linens N Things, and they suck to the max. More applications to get to...

Look for a nursing school in your area .. CNA or LPN preferably ..talk to financial advisor, ..setup a school loan, spend a few weeks to be a CNA or a year or so to be an LPN .. when you get out and pass state exam, only send a resume to a place you want to work .. because they *will* call you.
Feds predict nursing shortage will be acute for the next 2 decades .. newsflash ..nursing shortage has been 'acute' since 'nursing' first became a profession. Even during WW2, there weren't enough.

I can't do that in high school, too much frickien homework.:(
-
i had an interview at Noah's Bagles last wednesday and im gonna apply to work at UPS if that doesnt work out.
-
ups sucks, i worked it 2 years back, they will def need guys for the holiday but after that ur caned. I must have delivered/picked up over 300 pieces a day rangeing from a piece of paper to a 70 pound air tank. Pay is crap. If u need work u should get in for the peak season no prob. If u work in a small town work will be easy if u work in a big city(manhattan) be ready to move. If u work it the biggest thing ull get is somethin else to add to the resume. Good luck:aok
-
well it doesnt realy matter now. im being kicked out of my house in january so i need a job very soon that has full health care.

What did you do?

I've worked at UPS for 5 years. Decent pay, full health benefits, free college.
-
UPS is a good place to work, but they expect you to actually work.

HOW DARE THEY!
-
they must be jerking the new york city guys around then. Driver assistant guys where getting 8 bucks an hour, and the regualar nite shift guys where getting 7. I think ups was one of the big companys that where caught useing illegal immigrants.
Where do u live??? if ur getting kicked out think about the military, unless u got a friend or relative that is goin to let u crash out. Rent here is high, even in the crap areas where theres nothin but drugs and criminals, and the job market is shot to all hell. I filled out for the jobs nobody wants, MEat locker 3am or 3am dock jobs and still dont get them. Im thinkin about the military myself. Good luck, just keep ur head together and stay strong, u should be alrite.

I thought you were going into the Navy Smidsy, guess plans fall through, such is life. I don't really want to work in the food industry but my friend works at Nick-N-Willy's which is take and bake pizza so no cooking involved, and i like that.

That is the general idea behind the word job.

Hello ppl if you are interested in just about any job, and willing to relocate. Alberta is DESPERATE, for workers. I am a Welder and I cannot qualify for unemployment insurance, due to the fact that this Province is Screaming for em. HEHE I still took 9 mos off. dipped into savings a bit but... I did have fun. I am one of them a**holes that bought a house when things were in the crapper. My mortgage is less than rent on a bachelor suite:) Some of my family lives in the same town so.... I don't own a car.
PS my house smaller than a bunkhouse:) 572sq feet.
-
alberta, what state is that:lol . My cousin is a welder, he always told me that i should learn, either to work or to fix cars, its a useful skill.
-
I'm an amateur mechanic, it's useful, i'd like to learn to weld too. I can do it in HS but it's a 30 minute drive and 2 periods.
-
Should convince your parents to move to the Springs. Always need extra help at the shop. BTW Nirvana, you should see the new toy coming in January! :t
-
I wouldn't mind working down there Bodhi, i'd just be scared i'd screw something up. I think my dad might find it interesting though so i'll let you know so i'm not waking you up after a long night of partying again. I'll come down and bend some metal sometime though.

Reading some of the new guys posts i'm noticing spelling isn't a priority in schools anymore. When you get kids in advanced English classes typing U instead of you, and 4 instead of for on essays, you kind of get nervous.

It that is all you can afford on a welders pay in Alberta, it's no wonder they can't find workers. :D

High School .. no worries. The goal of High school is to get out of it.
If you want some advice .. and can do a high GPA (some people just cant no matter how hard they try due to ..shall we say ..'interference') .. talk to the school counselors about scholarships into a college. Most scholarships require 3.75 or higher.. and it does take a bit of work to pull off for most . . but .. gettin a bachelors degree *will* open a lot of doors .. especially if it's built around somethin you enjoy doin anyway :) .. like ..ohh .. say .. aerodynamics .. f'rinstance :)

u get a scholarship u still need money. Theres no way around it, u need money to eat, for clothes and whatever else. If you were thinking about the military before give it another look, at least there once your in you dont pay for nothing and when u get out you get money towards school.
Im going through a real rough time myself aswell as my real close friend. Hes thinking about shipping off and i might just go with him.
-
Let's just say being a mechanic and owning/inheriting my step dad's shop has kind of been forced upon me, don't want to lose that successful family run business ya know. I've been thinking about going to community college for some education then hitting the autoshops. Community college 15 minutes from my house, $6,100 tuition vs $20-30,000 at a private college.
But we'll see. I've always wanted to go to....Europe.

NO. I choose to live in a small house. Rather intelligent imho. I don't need your 500k mansion. I do not want to keep up with the Joneses. When I work i average about 100k a year.
-
really now u make that much, where can i learn to weld?? Does it take long?? SHoot ill go out there make a couple of bucks and start up my master plan:lol
-
Millwright, HD Mechanic, Welders, Instrument Mechanic, Electrician, they all about the same as far as wage, goes. Carpenters, Plumbers, Roofers, are a little less. But with the housing market in such high demand, they are catching up FAST. ALTA is realy booming right now prolly gonna last till 2020, or so.
-
welding yea, plumbin cool, but anything that has to do with construction(at least here) is tooken by illegal maxicans, i saw them today doin road work by a school , that guy could barely hold that jack hammer. I hope its different in ur corner of the country(please lets not make this political).
-
Hell the gvmt. is talkin about fast tracking immigrants from china & such with skilled trades. Personaly I would rather have people who speak English. They are easier to communicate with.
-
here we go again, start a new post about that, more americans with out work, how many americans are living below the poverty line, how many americans are living right above, how many americans are just unemployed, the politicans are going to kill us, by the time my son is around there aint going to be nothing left. Dont start it here start another thread.
