Title: Another OJ?
Post by: Eagler on May 25, 2001, 03:57:00 PM
Just wondering who of you think Robert Bakley shot his wife? Gunpowder residue on his fingers sealed it for me not to mention the fact that he parked in a secluded remote location rather than directly across from the restaurant.

I think he'll get away with it too...

Eagler

er yes Blake thx

Robert Blake you mean?  The guy from "Barretta".

Doubt he'll get away with it.  Did they ever find the gun?  If they do.. he goes down.

You guys already seem to have him convicted, you been reading all those supermarket tabloids or somethin'? There's a reason he hasn't been charged, there isn't enough proof he did it...yet.
If he did do it, WTF, things like this happen to non-celebrities every day...nothin' to get all hyped up about, unless it feeds your voyeristic void.

nope just tired of the rich and famous having their own justice system. Was just asking what the rest of you thought with the evidence that has been stated so far. The LAPD is so gun shy at this point, I don't think they's charge Blake if they had him doing the shooting on video tape.

I bet there's a gaggle of ADA's in LA that are chomping at the bit to prosecute this case. Given the track record of the LA DA's office, there's good reason for them to rush to prosecute him, after all, even if they blow it they'll get a hefty bonus and will be able to make hundreds of thousands of dollars on the talk shows and in speakers fees after they quit the Da's office immediatly after the trial :/

Was it gunpowder residue? If it was, why did it take them a year to haul his bellybutton in? Maybe I've been watching too much CSI, but it seems to me that gun residue is a slam dunk and they should've had him in custody within the week.

Don't know anything about the case, but residue isn't always a slam dunk.  Especially if he's done something like been out target shooting around the same time.

"Gunpowder?  Of course there's gunpowder on my hands.  I was at the range that same day."

Well there are 2 connections with OJ.

1. Both are celebrities
2. The LAPD is so gun-shy after the OJ debacle they spent 10 Months wrapping this into a neat little package.

He will be convicted, they won't make the same mistake twice.

No he won't.  O.J. is free, not guilty.  While I don't think HE ACTUALLY did the killing, he knows who did.  They never bothered to ask that, strange, huh?   You had a botched crime scene, a pathetic man who calls himslef a judge, that allowed the courtroom to in turn, run by the defense.  You had two horny D.A.'s in the sack more often rather than sticking to facts and testimony.

I personally don't care what happens to Blake, he never cared about me, so why on god's green earth should lose sleep over a fallen celebrity.  I never cast judgement on others unless there is substancial not Tabloids, as someone pointed out.   My wife reads them in line and every time I ask the question, Why?  She keeps on flipping the pages like Panda bear woofing a bamboo shoot.

I seriously doubt he's going to be able to be aquitted the same way OJ was... "White Power!" is not a popular defense strategy.

This reminds me of an old joke...
"Did you hear they found Hitler alive !? That was the good news, the bad news is...they're going to try him in LA!"

I may have to go out and rent "Electra Glide in Blue" again!  That was a cool movie that Blake did.

Of course he will be found guilty, he can't use the "race" card defence...

My cousin produced that movie. Blake was so pissed at my cousin's self promotion that he bagged on the film on the Tonight Show.

The final death scene is pretty cool though.

Who cares?  I was completely stunned that every single network ran this as a top news story.  I was hoping that the news agencies were just out of touch with what people think is important but maybe I should level that accusation at myself.  There are far more important things going on these days.

All I know is, I'm starting to "want" Greta Vansustern, and I hated her guts back during the OJ Trial... What kind of a crazy world is this???

This won't be like OJ at all.  No racist jury will bail this guy out.  I bet he plea bargains.

Mickey (Mickey Gubitossi/Robert Blake) - (9/18/33 - ) - Became a powerful adult performer of leading and character roles. Starred in the series
Baretta in the 1970's. Consumed with anger over his treatment by his family and the studio as a child, he denigrated his early work, suffered bouts of
difficulty with drugs, and became known as a difficult, perfectionistic person to work with. He quit his successful TV series "Hell Town" (1985) when his
personal demons became overwhelming. After a self-imposed exile of nearly eight years, during which he struggled to right his life, he successfully
returned to films and television work, appearing renewed and more confident in himself and his work. Currently lives in California.

Here's the defense guys: He was "Consumed with anger over his treatment by his family and the studio as a child"...so this will get him off the hook, somehow, some way.  money talks.

My wife always asks "what's wrong with her mouth?" She looks like a former stroke victim or something.

Eagler: She's cute! She's tough! She can talk fast! She has absolutely no pretense. I'd like her more if she was less of a defense atty and more of a prosecutor, though.

If I could really have it my way, Gretta would be my show woman, and Laurie Dhue would be my dirt woman. :p

Midnight Tahgut: Nobody can say Gretta talks out of both sides of her mouth ;) Yeah, its obvious that there is a small problem there.
