I wish we had a 6-cannon fighter.
Okay, correction, I wish we had a 6-cannon, 1-engine, fighter. The 110G performs rather poorly 90% of the time. Wasn't there a Kawasaki that had 6x 20mms? There were some 190s that had 6x 20mm and 2x cowl MGs. The TA152C-0 and the Me410 both had very heavy cannon setups.
I don't know why, I'd just love a heavy gunned bird. Even if it performed horribly (like an overly-heavy Ta152C), as long as it had a decent top speed I'd love to use them to intercept bombers, or to pop flak turrets (one of my new favorite passtimes in a 190A!).
I know a lot of folks would rather have 2 hispanos or 8 50cals. Something inside me just delights when I see the target go BOOM.
Who's with me? :lol
So, what guns package do you prefer most?
-
I prefer to set things on fire than blow them up, so 4x .50s in the nose works just fine for me thanks :aok
Its more satisfying to make them suffer a slow and painful death than to put them out of their misery quickly. :t
-
But what about the plane you set on fire but do no other damage to? He still flies around killing your wingmen while making a nice display on your monitor :)
-
if the pony or f6f had an extra pair of 50's i'd have a pleasure overload

I seem to recall that the Luftwaffe produced some limited number of tank killers that mounted a single 88. Can't remember what airframe they used. Whatever, very cool. :aok

Ho'er dream machine.

I prefer 8 guns....
.... and suffering targets.....
.... my favorite "kill" is a ALT F4 of the opponent.....
.... due to soundcard overload :t.
-
i think it is far more satisfying to put a burst of small calibre guns into an opponent and make them explode.
just love the thought of them being back in tower still listening to for the next 5 seconds :t

8 .50's are just fine with me :aok

ping ping ping pinga ping ping ..... ping...ping ping ping pinga ping ping ping ping ping....pinga ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping....ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping...ping ping ping ping ping ping...
boom.
;)
-
Is the boom caused from the pingpingping
or was it caused from him having his sound turned up way too high and in the frenzy to turn the sound down, he augers into the ground :rofl
-
either works into my tactic just fine.
;)

I'm with Shatzi on this. Nothing is better than straifing an Osti with a spit or Hurri MK-1. it's not that hard to smoke them with the 303's, I can only picture the B****ing on the other end about how there is no way 303's should kill the turret lol I've heard it a couple times from guys on my side. :)
-
if anything the .303's should be better at taking out osty turrets than anything else due to ROF?
its an open top turret remember, no protection at all!
-
You know, as long as I kill the guy, I don't really care how it happens, just that it does happen. Whether he breaks apart and goes spinning down, or he catches on fire and burns to death or he just disintegrates in midair, it's all good.

38 superstraifer.....12x50s...no questions:aok
