Title: Tired of the horde and land grab?
Post by: Hajo on August 31, 2006, 03:41:19 PM
A short while back Toad, Rude, Shamus and myself along with a few gents who were already in the DA just went there to furball in early to mid war aircraft.  We had a blast.

We could organize this if we get some people interested.  Could be an everyday event, or we can pick a time to do this if we get enough people interested.

Mindless furballing is a hoot.  Kind of tired of Big Maps with three hordes and the small maps with two hordes.

We have huge maps on which to fight. But always there may be only 3 or 4 grids on this map populated with people fighting.  99% of the Map is not used!

Knits are getting overwhelmed on a daily basis.  Not just in losing bases but being subjected to hordes from Rooks and Bish.  Bish until last night were generally subject to just rook hordes that flew at 86K.

Not my idea of fun.  I've run this idea before.  Respond here if interested and lets get something going!

I can tell you this, with the map last week I was board beyond tears most of the time.

Ohio is in Eastern time zone right, Post call up on 200, if I'm on and board I'll join ya. Or I'll check the DA if there are numbers in there.

If you make it Euro friendly, count me and my HMk1 in.

If not (time wise) - ill join on my sleepless nights as cannon fodder.

Would enjoy playing target for something other than the mindless horde, count me in. Don't get to play very much anymore so if I see numbers in the DA, I'll be there.

Count me in, gettin sick of the mindless horde mentality in MA anyway.

Seems like everyone is hiding in the hordes now.

I'm back since 4-5 weeks since a long break....the most fun I had since then is Batfink's P47-109 event in SA!!!

OK...hope more want to get involved...just on myself and frankly the whole squad logged right after Apar did.

Was nothing but 20 on 1.

So....lets get a definitive time for this so we can all be there at same time.

I live in the Eastern time zone in the US.  Schatzi lives about 7 hours ahead of my time zone.

Remember early to midwar craft only.  We aren't playing for score we're playing the way I believe the game was intended to be played.  Like it was 7 years ago.  A good fight with a respected opponent or opponents, a and get into the air again.

Post your time zones we will get a consenesus and try this this Friday Saturday or Sunday or all three.  We will make it a regular event for those that like to do this...and if you're tired of the MA believe me you will enjoy this greatly.

I'm on the east coast but other squad members are from all over, as far east as sweden to the california coast.  I'm sure they would log on as well as word spreads.

86k? That must have been when I went AFK to the loo and i forgot what I was doing prior to that... (this kind of pauses seem to last longer and longer with time...)

I am looking to get some training in the 109e for the upcomming Bob... this sounds about right, count me in!

For that very reason, I cannot come. Just before I log off for the night, we have taken two, three, sometimes even four bases in ten minutes. As soon as I leave, we lose the whol map. OBVIOUSLY, the entire country relies on my presence :D

OK Folks how bout we start this tonite...Friday.

I'll be there at 5PM Eastern....the DA.   I'll be in most of the night.

5PM Eastern is early for some, but at least that is a decent hour for some of the European Players.  I plan on staying in the DA for the evening.  So that means that' I'll prolly be in and out from 5PM EST to 12A or there abouts.

If we keep a presence there we should be able to increase the amount of participation.  I would like this to be a regular habit for a lot of the AH Community.

Aircraft...I propose a list  but I prefer aircraft that were intro'd no later then 1943.

So...here's a feeble list of craft   this can be debated of course .

109E and F
SpitI and SpitV
P38G
P47D11
P51B
La5
F4F
F4U1
F4UD
Hurricanes
F6F
FM2
etc.

I think it would be feasible to omit the UBER cannon planes for the sake of competition.  But again that could be up for debate.

Any and all suggestions would be welcome.

If enough show up we could have two teams evenly matched in a whirling, swirling mutiplane encounter.

Hajo, id say we keep the planes choice gentlemans rule. After all, we hope to get the "fighters" in there that fly for the FIGHT and not for the kill. I do not expect any of those to decide on an LA7 to go and BnZ the low furball......

IMHO its about having fun and fighting and not about flying (or not flying) certain planes - or did i misunderstand your intent?

(As long as the SMk1 and the HMk1 are on the list, ill be a happy camper any ways :))

Nightshift in actuality the D11 is more maneuverable then the D25.

D11 one of my favorite rides.  But I'm trying a change in pace for rides I'm going to "TRY" and fly the 38G.

So...we're trying to keep the planeset almost equal.  1943 and before.

This is a great learning experience also.  10K will be the maximum alt!

Will help us all learn a few things.  ACM and SA.

Zeros will be fine....and others I've forgotten to list.  P40s also! 110C should be included also.  But again we want to keep balance so we'll see how it goes.  There will be no 190s'.  Since the Spit9 is out so are the FW's. I don't think A5s were out until the earliest late 43.  But no matter since the SpitIX is not inclluded neither are the FWs'.

No P51D's, no Chogs, no La7s, No N1Ks even though the CHog was available at that time it is a perk ride and will be treated as such in this venue.  No Ki84s  methinks the Ki61 would be ok but I will check on its intro into the war.  I think it was available during 1943 but am not certain. Corky would know off the top of his head but I don't.  I'd have to crack open literature I have to be sure.

There will be no insults, no whining, just good natured no holds barred fighting.

Those that violate those rules of engagement will have to clean Skuzzys Office for a month.  If you collect aluminum that might be a monitarily rewarding job. :aok

Corky...if you're going to be there I'd like to hookup with you in a 38G to 38G encounter...and if so would you please film?  I'm not very good in the 38 yet and could use the help.  Thanks

BTW we should all meet in the tower to discuss any rules of engagement.

I think these are a start for the rules.

1.)  10K max alt.  This will limit the bore and Zoom.  Still can be done but only within the alt limit.
2.)  Since we will be split up into hopefully two sides I propose once two opponents merge the fight is on.  They will stay engaged until one or the other is down and the victor will be able to freelance and help his side.  this will probably be difficult to determine but hopefully this will be a Ladies and Gentlemens agreement.
3.) Once you are down you must wait in the tower until 3 of you can up at the sametime.  Whether you land or crash or are shot down.  This will I hope prevent a stream of players upping from a base perpetualy.  Also a Ladies and gentlemens agreement.

Any other thoughts on this would be more then welcome to improve gameplay and the enjoyment of avoiding a reupping horde.

Of course rules can be changed or added, and as I said ideas are most welcome.

5PM Hajo time = 11PM CET? (I'm not good at conversion unless i write a script to do it for me :p)

If I'm more or less correct, I'll be in this evening.

I would perhaps add the earliest 110 to your list (Asked to fly an emil in Bob, but have no garantee... so I might have to deck some training time in that one too).

Great Idea, move this to the MA, work out logistics so that when potatod shows up you can easily get the word out to the three countries where the furball is moving to and you will have a hit every night no matter who is on.

Is there a common radio channel that crosses country lines other than Chan200.  If so, make that the furball channel.

If you log in to MA and want to furb, dial up Furb channel and get the coordinates.

I would be all over that.  It's time we take a piece of the MA and make it our own and keep moving it around when the spoilers show up.

I think every channel between 200 & 299 can be seen by all countries. Don't think it'll run in the MA though... (See previous response about La7/Spit wall)

Think when we log on we're Bish in the DA.  I don't see why two opponents fighting can't log onto the same channel and discuss comments and moves while fighting.  This is a learning experience for all of us.

Many of us have not fought one on one in the over 7 years I've been here so this will be both an opportunity and a joy.  Get to know some people who've shared the game with you for years.

Schatzi!

Yes...I had lots of fun myself.  Hope we can get more people enjoying this.

Will check the DA again tonite.  I'll hang around see if those interested return and we can do the same thing.

We had a few early on in the fight who upped late war aircraft.  Hopefully they didn't know the rules.  Fighting 262s and 163s was a bit difficult in early war rides.  Also the D model ponies ran a great deal.  But as the night progressed all were in 1943 or earlier rides.

Post by: Max on September 02, 2006, 06:53:06 AM
I too had fun last night. A couple of questions, thoughts and suggestions~

The DA is a public arena. If the EWF concept gels and grows, how do we keep the the group from interfering with folks who are in the DA for 1v1 duels?

Is it possible to form EWF squads - no larger than 32? Reason I say is that vox could be addressed that way by way of squad vox. If so, can one squad divided between 2 countries com together under one squad vox?

Should we think about putting together a list of acceptable planes?

When I first entered the DA last night I was told it was a 1v1  engagement situation, which turned out not to be the case. So what are the engagements do's & don'ts?

cool idea. we could start an unofficial squad, almost like a club lol. if we all tune to radio 2** (i suggested 299), we can find each other in the MA, or in the DA, and just find each other, have some small duels. i had great fun last night and i'm definitely coming tonight hajo!

any other euro's coming tonight? would be nice to get to bed earlier than 3 am tonight i think hehe

most of us were having 1v1's, but that was because we'd ask everyone else to keep out of our fight ;) and yes, squad vox goes across countries

well...  We didn't get a lot of people in but it would be a good idea...  I liked the canyons.

I don't think there should be rules tho except maybe not a bad idea to limit planes to fairly early war ones.   I like free for alls a lot better than 1 v 1 also.

Would be good to just have 10 or so on each side and just let things happen.

Schatzi, I love the H MK I, and would love to be able to learn from you.

I don't know if you have flown or fought Treize69 or Platan0, but the greatest compliment they have given me is I fly like Shatzi and give them nightmares.

I'm in the CST time zone, 1 hour behind EST.  If you can give an estimate as to when you might be available, I'd love to either go against you or be your wingman.  I'll learn something either way.

Hajo, Thank you for coming up with a way to actually begin enjoying the Game again.  I'll look for numbers in the DA, and will definately stop in for a go.

Is anybody on around 10 AM EST.  I normally get home from work around that time, and fly for a couple of hours to unwind before going to bed.  Is that a decent time for any of the Euro Players ??
