I'd like to make myself available to anyone (preferably a newer pilot) who is interested in learning the P38 or any aircraft to a lesser extent. I'd rather stick to teaching a newer pilot since I am not any good myself, but I can teach/show you as much as I know.
I am available on most evenings up until 10pm est or weekends at any time, send me a Private Message or post here if you're interested.
if you're asking why I'm suddenly interested in teaching, it is because of all the threads on the 'art of the dogfight' fading and AH turning into a landgrab. Maybe I can help foster a new breed of sticks interested in furballing...
In a different thread I made a list of guidlines, I've reposted them below.
1. Don't be afraid to die; sometimes dying is the best way to learn.
2. Record film of all your fights, including the ones you win. Just because you may have killed someone, it doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.
3. Turn tracers off as soon as you feel comfortable with shooting down targets (this is a non priority and can wait a couple months or so).
4. Do NOT, under ANY circumstances fly with stall limiter on. You will never, ever improve and you'll find that stuff that shouldn't out turn your plane will be able to, and quite easily.
5. You can fly with combat trim, but be aware enough and often trim the plane yourself if you have free time (ie going to or from the fight).
6. Keep a good attitude, no matter how good you are eventually you will get shot down. No one is willing to teach someone who constantly flames individuals on channel 200.
7. You can always improve your acm skill, but not your attitude. Unfortunately for some of the arena the reverse is not true and more often than not as one improves the other decreases.
8. Fly one aircraft you really like (and hopefully not the Niki, La7, or Spit16) stick with until you can really rock 'n roll in it. Only then move on to another aircraft. Sticking to one aircraft will make the learning process a little easier...

You got PM! :)

I'll be taking you up on this offer if it's still available in a couple of weeks :aok
-
I'm new to the game and have to ask. Why do you not want to see new players flying the La-7, Niki, or Spit 16? I'm starting the the Ki-84, myself, because a friend with a lot of experinece with AH recommended it as a good plane to start with. I've flown the La-7 in IL-2/FB/PF and din't find it especially difficult to fly. I have to add that I'm pretty new at this and I find just about everything difficult to fly well. I may take you up on you offer but need to spend some more time in the off line training.
-
That thing with the La, Spit16 and other so called "uber rides" or "easy mode planes" is this: Those planes generally have a good performance in many categories (speed, climb, armament...). They are often used by the "less skilled" to compensate for their lack of effort to learn fighting tactics and maneuvers. Theres a high number of LA7, Spit16 and N1Ks in the MA that will stick to "HO and run" tactics, vulching, hording etc...
It kind of gets old, you know? :)
Im not talking about players like you. I bet, even if you decided to fly Spit16 or LA, youd still try to *learn*, improve and not go for the "easy kill, high score" mentality those planes kind of stand for. Unfortunatly, as youll get to know this community closer, youll notice not many new players are like that.
To be honest i find it a bit sad that those planes have such a bad reputation. A well flown La7 can be a formidable opponent and certainly a force to be reconed with.
>>S<< Condor, please keep that great attitude of yours. Im 100% sure youll be a very fine addition to this community and this game once you decide to come online.

Thanks for the feedback. Now I understand.
I have flown the La-7 in the IL-2/Pf/.../... sim and liked it. I was not much of a threat to anyone. It was certainly one of the best fighters in WWII. I also had fun with the IL-16 which no on would rank very high among WWII fighters. I'm more interested in learning the whole spectrum of air combat from turn fighting to BNZ. Vulching and head on runs don't interest me much. From what I've read, I suspect vulching causes a lot of new players to get discouraged fast.
I have decided to follow the advice to learn one plane. So far the Ki-84 seems like a good all round choice.

i need some help with managing my finances, and possibly setting up a high interest savings account, when would be a good time to make an appointment?
thanks in advance.
-
The Ki is one of themost underestimated and most dangerous planes of the set. If flown well (throttle, flaps, trim) they turn on a dime while still hanging vertical with a P38...
If you come online, look for Wilbuz, Sindon or Zaphod - they amongst the most dangerous in the Ki....

I need help with my homework.
PLus, KI is a great plane to leanr. I also find the Yak9u a great training aircraft if you have patience. It pretty produces good habits by itself.

You are way too modest. You are bad ***.
I have only flown a 38 a couple of times & I really sucked at it. I wouldn't mind a lesson or two if you could fit me in.

I might be able to help some if its German (as a foreign language) or computer science stuff.
Delirium, i might take you up on this :)

I've been looking for someone to show me how to fly the 38. I flew it extensively in AW FR, but it's been a long time and I can't quite figure it out in AH. I can't really fly any plan in AH well. Pretty much just been flying the spit and nik as I try to get a feel of things. Sooooo, if the offer still stands, you can teach me. I am definately a newb, as I'm sure those who have seen me play can attest to.
-
Yes, Iwould like help. I've only been at it for a few weeks. It's very frustrating
-
Del don't limit yourself to only helping "noobs" you are way to good for that. You could help anyone in this game. I might just look you up for some practice when I get back.

I've messed around enough on my own and am ready for some help. I went to the training forum and flew around a little. I didn't see another airplane. The map showed I was in the mini scenario zone at field A2. The forum notes said field A1 is reserved for trainers and those who want training. I pulled the map down and saw a basic training zone with field A1. There didn't seem to be a way to get there.
My basic flying skills are OK. I can do manual takeoffs and land. I can get the plane from point A to point B OK. I can recover from stalls and most spins. My SA is awful. I can do some manuvers but I suspect they seem better to me than they would to an observer. I've tried the 8 man games and discovered I can't put it together well enough to last more than a minute or two in an encounter. I get shot down to fast to learn much. I have good gear, CH fighterstick, pro-throttle, and pro-pedals.
Is it possible to just drop in and get some help? My schedule is a little unpredictable right now so I am hesitant to set up an appointment. How do I get to the basic training zone? The mini scenario zone didn't seem to be it.

Base A1 in the Training Arena is a Bishop field. To switch to the Bishops team, bring up your clipboard while in tower (not in flight) with the ESC key and click on OCLUB > CHANGE COUNTRY. Then select Bishops and OK. To move to another (green) base on the map, double click it.
You can bring up then radio chat with the / key, then type your message and ENTER to send. Even when there are no trainers online, there is usually someone there that can help you out. And check the help file and http://www.netaces.org for tips on setup, gameplay and tactics.
Please feel free and email the Trainers at trainers@hitechcreations.com. Let us know your ingame name and times (time zone!) youre available. Well be happy to help you set up your game, Joystick and views (key to a good SA!) and get you going. Or you can also just drop by the Training Arena (TA) and ask for help. Im usually online during European evenings (1 pm to 6 pm EDT), my ingame name is Schatzi as well.
Welcome to Aces High Condor! :)

Look me up anytime Condor... the command is
.p Delirium TEXT OF MESSAGE
(place that in the radio buffer)
I'll be on tonight from 6:45pm est to 9:45pm est and same time on Thurs and Friday nights.
Make sure you read up on what a split-s, an immelman, and a high and low yo-yo are before the meeting. Even if you don't completely understand what they, it will make life a little easier.
Here is a good site to read up on some tactics.

Am I wrong in assuming we can also communicate by voice over the radio during training? I have a headset that has worked at hyperlobby. I assume it will work for Aces high as well. I assume the trainer talks the trainee through manuvers while watching from behind or something like that. Am I close to how you do it? That would be hard using the keyboard.
I believe I can do the split-S and Immelman fairly well. We'll see how right I am about that. I think I understand the high and low yo-yo but usually find myself at the wrong heading coming out of them.. I'll review and practice a little before I show up.
On line I'm Bigprop and fly a Ki-84. Thanks for the info. and willingness to help.

Yes, AH has an inbuilt voice system. If your mic is up and working in windows, you should be able to use it in game as well. Hold F12 while talking on range (people close to your position) and T for the tunable radio channel. More about radio usage on http://www.netaces.org.

Just learning how to do this stuff but how do you record your flights? I think the P-38 is a great plane but it seems to have a great disadvantage in the MA.:(
-
 I found the search function.here is a quote from Schatzi
"Start filming your own fights! (ALT_R in game to toggle record on/off - red R in upper left corner of screen when recording). The films are saved in your game folder HTC\Aces High II\films."
Thanks! I tend to answer my own questions. It drives my wife nuts!!

The thing I like about AH is that everyone is more than willing to help each other, evan after sending me to the ground, wingless, tailless and/or in flames. I have learned alot just by treating the individual forum as a FAQ source.:noid

Sorry Dusty:D but hope you read the tips I was giving Sunbat yesterday.
They really do work.
