A quick how-to on adding some rust to bare metal would help a ton. Thx in advance!

Better work than I have ever done Ranger.... but then again, I never even done a skin! :rofl And the sad part... I went to school for Art! :rofl I really gotta try that some time. I might have to have you show me how to do that crap sometime...
BTW - I like it, even though it is a Spit. :p (I hate Spit's)
:aok

Thx Sketch! I'm pretty new to skinning, so that's why I made one of my own design. Just made it up as I went. I chose the spit because it had nice big surfaces to mess with. This was kinda a test to see how the skinning process worked. Now that I have the basics down, I'm gonna try to do an authentic skin, but I know that's gonna be a lot more work to get it perfect. Good thing about concepts, they are never wrong.:D One thing I don't get. In my .bmps and in the hanger, it's a black & white plane, but in-game, the white all turned to bare metal grey.

Are you using Paint Shop Pro for that Ranger? I have one on my computer.... .... ah yes, here it is! Was wondering, do you just open up a skin that is already done and edit from there? I would to do a F4U-1 skin... maybe something to dink with I guess in the future.

Any program that will work in layers will work. PsP is prob. one of the better ones. If you go to ah-skins.com, there is a skinning how-to, plus I believe there is a template for that palne posted on the site. That will save you a ton of time. It's all trial and error, but not nearly as hard to do as I thought. With the template, you'll already have your panel lines & rivets, some of the most time-consuming parts of skinning I have discovered. Try it out and good luck! Maybe you'll discover your next addiction!:D
