Those do look nice, but they're missing one very important thing that AH will always have over WarBirds...
HiTech & Pyro
Not to mention the two ladies and those artsy-fartsy nancy boys!

Well, someone will sooner or later take over them... a cold fact, but true.
Although, I wouldnt put my money on WB3 about that.
maybe some other..

Nice lense flare. But from a purely rendering point of view I'd say its not that hot. The light sourcing is all wrong (if there is any), you shouldn't be able to the insignia on the tail, it should be a black silhoutte. Its questionable whether you should even see the ground detail. IE, the area behind hills should be dark.
If you look at the other screenshots it becomes clearer, like seeing full detail of the the 38 with the sun behind it is not right.
Looks like they are using ambient light rendering.
AH is nice, it uses the lightsourced system which means objects are rendering with the appropriate light levels, ie ground behind hills is dark. Aircraft with the sun behind them are silhouttes.
But AH could do with a better sun imho.
Not a WB3 slam, just pointing out that if you look a little closer you can see some 'issues'.

Vulcan,
Yeah, they still do appear to be using too much ambient lighting. There IS a light source, but I dont think its strong enough, and I don't think that it travels with the sun yet.
BUT, its only the third beta release. I'm sure its not complete yet.

I like that screenshot, looks very sweet

SOB, very well said!
Simply look at the flightmodels of the planes they added after +HT+ and Pyro resigned...

Looks very nice!
Impressive!
I flew WB during the free weekend. Had some fun! The community seemed very nice! I love the icon appearing range, plus the icon is lost when aircraft goes in the sun. You have to always keep your SA up, ALOT!
One thing I didn't like was the feeling that your face was in the front windscreen all the time. No adjustment either.
I like AH more because that is what I was raised on, but WB is just fine and I wish them all the good luck in WB III.

BBGUN, the vicious flames died along time ago. Just the drive by flames now and then.. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Looks good! I suspect that iEN will probably have to offer more than what HTC offers now in order to recruit any AH pilots that-a-way, but for new flyers to flight sims, no problems!
<S> BBGun!

Oh, P.S.
WB's 2.77 still kicks AH bellybutton for historical terrain/arena choices!~
-
Man! That is one bright cockpit light!
Pilot: Dammit I told that moron to use a 60 watt bulb not a 6000 watt.

It does looks very nice. But that all pervasive yellow just doesn't do it for me <blech>

They are getting there, not quite, but almost the same quality as AH:
Click here for a nice sunset pick with clouds you can acutally play hide and seek. (http://Ripsnort60.tripod.com/sunset.jpg)

Ripsnort, I suggest you take a look at the special events announcement forum.
You might find it interesting.

Umm, I think you have too bright screen.
To me side behind hills is dark, I can't really see much of it, than profile against river and horizont.
Insignia in the tail? I didn't had even noticed such thing.. too dark.
so i think you got too bright screen.
