Post by: Sparks on September 08, 2006, 07:44:25 PM
Thought I would share a few shots I took at last weekend's airshow at Duxford.  Hope you like 'em. :)

I started with a long flightline walk with lots of Spits ...

And others ...

There was an interesting static display of a Contra-Griffon and a Merlin on trailers being run up at regular intervals ..

Flying on next post ......

The airshow kicked off with one of Eagl's mates from Lakenheath ..

and the Chinook was really impressive...

There was a superb Yak aerobatic team ...

The display was finished off with and 8 ship Spit flypast ..

As I was waiting for the traffic to clear there were some lovely sights of aircraft landing and leaving at the days end.

I'll try to pick a few others as I have some nice ones of the Catalina and other Spits on the ground but it's late now.

Wonderful photography Sparks, you've definitly got an eye... Looks like nature was nice enough to give you a dramatic sky as a backdrop that day too.

could be wrong but it looks like a 4 cannon Vc. I wonder why they didn't transfer the 4 hispano armament option over to the MkIX. 4 is better than 2, but there must have been a good reason for not doing it

Btw very nice pics Sparks

Thanks, they did, it was still the universal wing but they just didnt use it because of the additional weight.

i know that V's were used in the med with the 4 cannons fitted and maybe south africa? would fit with the colour scheme.
