Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has applied for a U.S. visa, according to State Department officials.
The fiery leader plans to attend the U.N. General Assembly meetings in New York later this month. Official says that the application, which was submitted last month, is going through the normal processing procedure.
Ahmadinejad is known for his controversial rhetoric. He has called the holocaust a "myth" and has stated that Israel will one day be destroyed. Jewish organizations have already begun planning protests to take place outside the U.N. Headquarters during Ahmadinejad's visit.
Because he is visiting for the U.N. meetings in late September, the application is being processed with the "U.N. Headquarters Agreement" in consideration, which allows for visits for government officials who want to visit the U.N. in New York.
The official advises that the application will be much like the one Ahmadinejad went through last year for his visa. His application will most probably be denied based on the travel restriction as an Iranian government official, but that should be waived, and he would then be allowed to come into the U.S. for the meeting, but probably with a limited 25-mile travel radius.

President Fern has said we are at war with terror, and that Iran is a sponsor of said terror; shouldn't then Mr. Iran dude be arrested upon landing and whisked off to Cuba to face charges?...
I was thinking of how funny it would be if some cracker from the mid-west managed to blow himself up on Ahmadinejads plane while singing "God bless America" with a mouth full of Skol... where are the Team America dudes to animate this?

Heh, I can see it now.
He gets a scenic tour heading up to the south Bronx, stops at a traffic intersection, the squeegy guy comes up and starts doing his windows, 4 other brothers buff his tires, them remove them. And he has a nice scenic walking tour back south through the bronx, over the bridge, meeting friendly New Yorkers along the way.

P.S.S. Too bad we don't have anything resembling MLK Blvd like out in Los Angeles. b/c you know there is some violence going on down there.

Let him in to NYC.
Get the best hollywood makeup artists to create his double.
When Ahmadinejad locks himself in his hotel room, launch the double on a drunken tour of every titty bar in NYC, complete with lap dances. Provide plenty of press.
Then pay the double handsomely and tell him he'll get twice as much loot in 5 years if he keeps is yap shut about it.

Scary thing is the guy probably already has a nuke. If he's coming to New York how hard would it be for him to just pack the thing on his plane. He's freaking crazy enough to be a martyr for his cause. He'd do it if he could take out the UN and most of the city with him.
Of course the Air Force has a handfull of those really nice F-22 Stealth fighters right up the road from me in Langley VA. They could intercept his dumb prettythang a couple hundred miles off the coast and if his plane just happens to "disapear".......O'WELL:aok I'm SURE my fellow Coasties will be more than happy to go out and do a SAR case....once we find the keys to the boat:D Might take awhile though.

Look. If we want to turn into a bunch of Romans then fine. Forget prisons in Iraq. Just cruxify everyone. Feed them to the lions. Burn entire villages. And take their leaders here and parade them in chains with all the spoils of war behind.
But if we want to be like Americans, let him come, promise him protection, let him say his bit, get in ours, and then let him leave peacefully.
He'd be entering as a diplomat. You do not harm such people in a civilized society.

He is NOT a diplomat. He IS a head of state. He is the head of a state that has declared that an ally of the U.S. should be wiped off of the face of the Earth. He is the head of a state that has supplied a terrorist organization and supported them in their effort to wipe that ally off the face of the Earth. He is the head of a state that has supplied and supported terrorists who attack both Iraqis and coalition personnel.
He is no more a diplomat entitled to enter the U.S. now than Hitler would have been in 1940.
However, we allowed an openly hostile head of state to visit the UN before (see: Kruschev), so possibly we will allow one again. We obviously need to remove the UN from U.S. soil, that will prevent us from having to graciously host scum like him who would slaughter us all if he thought he could.

Seriously, the best thing to happen would be for a totally uneventful trip for this "person".
The second best thing would be for the chartered iranian airliner to blow up about 5 minutes after takeoff at 20k alt. on the way to the US.
Which "best thing" would be your choice? In this case I vote for #2. :t
