Title: Lanc skins
Post by: Verbal on September 09, 2006, 01:25:08 PM: All i want for christmas is a few new lanc skins. at present, all they have is the default skin. Hopefully a desert skin (don't even know if it exists), would be nice

Post by: nirvana on September 09, 2006, 07:51:41 PM: Most Lancasters had the same skin as in game due to the fact they flew a good amount of sorties at night so there was no real need for any other kind of camo.

i spoke to a lancaster pilot who completed an entire tour of duty and did not fly one night time sortie.

1) Lanc is nearly un-skinnable at the moment. The way the skin file is laid out prohibits re-skinning.

2) Find one real photo (not a color template) of a war-time lancaster -- the prerequisite is that it has to be WARTIME, there are some colorful post-war pics, and it has to be ARMED, no unarmed MAC transports or anything.

Find a photo of that that isn't black undersides and brown/green standard uppers, then maybe somebody will be interested in skinning it. As it stands all the options are identical save for the letters on the side of the fuselage.

P.S. Furball, the same url has this one. That doesn't look like white undersides to me. I think whoever colored that profile just didn't know better.

That is: to alert friendly Ak gunners that the aircraft were friendly when there were mulitple contacts

the lancaster was made when AH had a night mode.

night mode was removed due to the whines.

lancasters had light blue/white undersides, for the first few months of flying.... but once they worked out that night bombing was the only way, everything turned black (underside at least)

so, since we've lost night mode in AH, maybe we should have a daytime paint job?:aok
