Title: First day with new camera
Post by: xrtoronto on September 09, 2006, 04:58:44 PM
Well, this is my first attemp with the new Rebel XT I bought yesterday.

This pic is of me walking along Bloor St E toward Yorkville. The next intersection is Yonge & Bloor. Yorkville is a short 2 block further west and where the Hollywood stars are hanging out.

This is a sidewalk in Yorkville. It joins Cumberland and Yorkville Av.

So that's you in the red blue and white windbreaker? At least it's your good side. Good choice of poses given that it's a brand new camera. No sense in straining the lense with a frontal shot of ya.

:p

LOL

I took only 18 pics today. I have several other car photos from the same spot...a Rolls, another Bentley, an Astin Martin. Also some shots of the crowd outside the Four Seasons waiting to catch a glimpse of stars with the CN Tower off in the distance.

Missed taking a pic of Kevin Costner who walked right by me when I was adjusting the setting on my new camera. Argh!

Would appreciate any and all suggestions how to become better at this. I've really got my interest back in photography (thanks in large part to you photo bugs on the bbs)

Thanks lukster. Lots of people from all over the place here this weekend. Met a couple from New Joisy yesterday and spent much of the afternoon with them. Met others from NYC and Chicago. Also because of the Film Festival there are people visiting from Europe as well. Met somebody from Prague today!

The reason I bought the camera yesterday is because within a month or so, the colours up north will start to change from green to yellow and orange and red. It is really something that should be witnessed by everyone. It is a natural wonder of the world as far as I'm concerned. I wanted to get some experience behind my photo skills before I take off up there to the area of Algonquin Park.

So, your 1st attemp with the new camera is a picture of yourself? How did you take the picture? Timer?

And, are we supposed to guess which person is you in the "upscale" bistro?

No offense, but I got a great laugh out of these! Thanks.

Why are there are no beautiful women or great cars in the pics? :)

I see a sea of crap cars all jammed up.

Sorry..... but BORING!

Suttle touch ups on both, just my personal preferences, you might not even notice them. (This 2nd pic has a dark tone gradient from the top down to about 1/3 of the pic, which brings out the color of the flowers near the top)

Nice pics, xtoronto...and good choice in a camera.  Its either Canon or Nikon or nothing at all, IMO.

This is an obvious overcrop by me, but I found it curious that these folks noticed you shooting pics. hehe!  Some nice MILF action from what I can tell...

anyone else notice that the black guy walking on the sidewalk is the same guy on the poster in the foreground? actually, they are TOO close of a match....it must be a live video, or a double reflection off the window from the other side. Interesting.

also, that woman in the front looks like witchy-poo! The blond looks nice.
