Title: 'Ace of Spades' Flight, No 73 Squadron OTU
Post by: Furball on September 10, 2006, 06:33:39 AM
Guppy, found a pic of a P47 with a big ace of spades insignia on the nose, caption says it belonged to 73 Squadron OTU based in Fayid.  Did you have any more pics or profiles of them?

I think it would make a great skin!

thats the one!  nose art is wrong though, in the picture it is a single card and a bit bigger - goes from nearly the front of the cowl all the way back to the cowl flaps.

pic i have is of aircraft 18, serial HD154 something...

thanks :) now to persuade someone to skin it!

well they should... the game is called Aces High and there is a genuine Jug skin from WWII with a whacking big Ace of Spades on the side.

Nice...

I was looking for the panel lines at the front of the cowl.  Mine do some weird things where the model wraps the bitmap.  I see you did the smart thing and omitted them.  I've already worked to make them for a couple of hours...

Did some more looking and found a couple photos showing the nose art.  It looks like the profile so they must have standardized it at some point.  Can you post the image you found furball?

And a photo of another RAF bird with the Ace of Spades.  This is an 81 Squadron kite from Burma so it is combat used.

my bad, i have had a closer look and the noseart is indeed correct.  the picture quality is poor and the cards behind are hardly seen.

great find on the above pics dan, thanks :)

Theres an RAAF OTU Mossie in the game, I think it might be allowed.

Showing my vast and vacuous ignorance here... OTU= Operational Training Unit right?
