U first learn about aces high. I have heard from some of the older guys that aces high has been around for years. But i never heard about it since i saw the military channel, and there a new network that started not even 2 years ago. I never played flight sims before this one, i guess all those docs about mustang, spitfire, etc give me more of an interest for this stuff.
How did u find aces high????
-
Found ah 2.0 on a pc magazine cd.I could only play offline because of my internet connection but i was hooked anyway.
-
i was bored, was searching through some demos to play on gamerevolution.com and found it. i played offline for a few weeks first, then i discovered that online was where all the action is, and never looked back :D
that was in december 2004, first ever sim :)
-
I saw an ad for it in one of my flight magazines, finally decided to check it out a month or so ago, and I really like it. This game rocks!!:aok
-
I blame it on my man. What else :).
-
I heard of a mystical kingdom offering relief for EA victims and Air Warrior refugees.
I think the first person to mention AH was our primary rival squad leader 40MAW of the MAW. We'd give them a healthy butt kicking every week on squad night (which was also theirs) and he'd talk about playing Aces High. This may or may not be a slightly skewed version of the story but it sure is a happy one :)
This was toward the end of AW probably around 2000. I remember seeing the website way back then and not paying interest because AW was still alive and I was still in high school with somewhat limited funds, many other interests and not needing a second game.
How things change...

I was recuperating from an injury, my son in law bought me a puter for home use and downloaded it for me. one week later I owned an X45 and a headset for vox

Military channel..

I started flying in Air Warrior with a dos version I found in a "bargin bin". When the writing was on the wall at "gamestorm" a friend and I started hunting for a replacment fix :) We tried a number of on-line flight sims, and they all had their problems. The only thing I didn't like about Aces High was the $30 monthly fee, but I was in the process of talking the wife into letting me spend it when HTC lowered its price, and I've been here ever since.
Been flying flight sims for 12 years..... talk about a slow learner, I still suck ! LOL!

IBID ... The Military Channel. Saw the AH spot but didn't catch the name.
So I went to the Military Channel website to search for it ... could find nothing
after an hour. Finally found a reference to A2A on a gamer's site ...

Was at Flayd's house watching him play AH1, then I burned up a lot of his perks on Tempests without really knowing what I was doing.:D

I was sitting in my living room watchin TV (and waitin for the lottry numbers). When it was time i tuned to channel 16 and waited for the powerball numbers. First number 3, I had that number! next two were 16 and 18, I had those too!! last numbers were 28, 33, and 40....I had all 5 numbers!! I watched for the power ball and it was 16.....I HAD 16!!! I had won 26 MILLION dollars. Then i woke up and saw AH2 on the military and went to download it.
-
Well....god called me on the phone and told me about it. :)
-
was google-ing airwarrior to see if it had been resurrected and ran across a BBS that referenced the airwarrior thread on this board.
in it i saw some CPID's i remebered from the old squad !
downloaded ah, emailed my old CO and haven't done any yard work since!:D (http://i.pbase.com/u29/naturechick/upload/42968475.IMG_1695pbase.jpg)

Around 1999 - 2000 Red Baron 3D was dead. I went searching for another WW1 air combat sim and found Aces High.
-
I honestly dont remember how I heard about AH. I do remember getting hooked instantly. Best sim ever!
-
I heard about AH long before AW3 died.
I blame Westy though, he was the AH 'pusher' that got me hooked during beta3.
-
I was walking my kid home from school and some shadey looking guy approached me;
"What do you need buddy?"
"Sorry Dude, not into that"
"Got some AH2 - Uncut - Pure"
"AH2? Never heard of it"
"Good chit, Man! Here. Try some on me. Two week supply"
"What? Your giving it away? Can't be that good."
"You'll be back for more my man" He said "But the next dose will cost ya."
-
My flight instructor told me. He said if you like MS Flight Sim your like this even more. Aces High has a better flight model. He was right, I do like AH better than MS Flight Sim.
-
A demo disc made by my step dad's co worker, after half an hour of boredom Aces High sounded fantastic. That was in 2002.:aok
-
was surfin for porn and stumbled upon it.
forgot the porn and now addicted to AH sheep :O

I tried AH1 out for 2 weeks and didnt like it.
Spent 5 years in FA mastered it player numbers dropped over time checked out AH2 and was pleasantly surprised and I still am today Been here a year and loving it.
The community and the people that run the game are mainly good people.
Can't wait for combat tour lets hope it doesnt disappoint and we get an even bigger following......

Started AW back in 98 and when it was being killed off started to look for another game, for the first 2 years I ended up in FA but then they migrated from "the Zone" and with the system I had found it hard to get a connection so started to look around again and this time I found AH.
I had heard of it before and even tried it for awhile but at that time I was heavily into FA so decided to stay with that, when I eventually did come to AH I found a lot of guys I had known in AW already here and they were kicking my butt on a regular basis and they still are !!
-
Well, i started off in AW-DOS in the late 80s. Then a sim came out from DOMARK called Confirmed Kill, which in turn changed to Warbirds. A small splinter group from WB started to do there own Thing called Aces High. I came to Aces High in open beta.
This is were HT came from and he has made a lot of people happy in the long run.
Ya, im an old fart:)
-
I started out flying warbirds II, and some guys there told me about Hitech's new company and project and i joined AH 1 as soon as it went public.
-
Spat, ya bastage ;)
-
I visited a friend (dj229) and saw his big screen setup and imediately got hooked. I couldn't afford his big screen, so I bought a projector which works great, but I still mostly play on the small screen.:aok

-
I met HT at a spelling competition,
wipass
-
Heard about it from Sundog and signed up the day it went open beta. Had a blast for 3 years or so... oh well.
-
I flew Warbirds (WB2? Not 3.0, I don't think 2.5...) in head to head games with some friends from Raider Wars and Tribes. I was a no-talent hack at the time, I could barely make a turn after the merge. Anyways it was one of these pals that suggested I check out AH, under development. I go to the webpage and follow it on and off for about 6 months til it's released. At the time I didn't have a good PC (and didn't have a 3D card), but luckily I got a new PC just as AH came out of beta. I've been flying on and off since then. I've had several subscriptions, at least a few "free trials" over the years (putting it down, moving, new IP, signed up again and got new trial). HTH or MA been flying since it came out :aok

I know Heater. But, note that I did use the little 'g' and I think he got my number from Harry. :D

My buds and I got boared playing Air Warrior and that other sim made by Activsion, can't remember the name. Was surfin the web and found HTC website. Three of us went straight into online play for the free 2 week trial crashing P51s and Spitfires on the runway. 3 days later I was getting my first kill!
-
Met Duke_Mskt in person (I sold him a car and instead of haggling price, we talked old warbirds for over an hour). One of the favors he did me was introduce me to AH.
-
was working at a local rental store a few years back. started talking about airplanes with a customer and he told me about AH1. then i was hooked.
-
saw an ad for AH I on Discovery Wings back in the day, played it for a couple of weeks, then when it changed to the Military channel I saw an ad for AHII and tried it again....was actually old enough to understand it this time and got hooked....the rest is history...

Theres not many of us old farts left in AH now :(
You know the used the FM from the CK Beta in WW2OL :D you can dive a 109E4 from 20k straight down at 700km/h and pull out at 1k there just like in CK :P
-
Another forum talked about open beta testing of Aces High. So I did. :D
-
I burned out on AW in '95 and quit. I didnt play any game of any type again until for some reason in '03 I decided to get back into AW. After discovering that it was dead, I saw that HT and Pyro had started AH. I knew without even playing it that AH would be the place to be because they ran it.
-
well lets see, hmmm, where id it all begin?
aha! it was many moons ago, i was sitting around in my house....bored...as...hell...
so i went online and found some abandonware DOS games RB, AOE, AOTP...
i loved every freakin second of those, but i was soon disatisfied with those good old graphics and lack of realism,(if bomber gunners where that f**king accurate there would have been NO need for fighter escort AT ALL! leave muh 109 alone foo!) now although the plane sets and game play where quite fun, (ki43 & ki84 pwns all, cept bigfat bnz, HO'ing, P47 bastages) it wa not enugh to stall the boredom indefinetly and a few years later i began searching for other games.
now the whole "online" thing seemed pretty appealing, getting to fight people would make things more interesting, instead of an AI who performed the same maneuvers over and over again (RB all turn fites, AOE&AOTP had a bit more variety but still VERY limited) fighting other plp would meen coming face to face against competant foes.....well, mostly competant foes, a few tards out there i won't say any names..........my brother:lol
i i dipped into sum MMORPG but couldn't rly get into it all, the skys where calling my name. so the search began, i had to find a Flight Sim that had a good plane set, good graphics and realism. and since i'm cheap, stingy, and poor dude i looked on the internet, but without success. then i remembered seeing sumthin on the military channel bout sum sort of flight sim, wut was it? aces sumthing? aces high! so i found the AHII website and at first i was a little skeptical, i had looked at wwII online, but uh, no. AHII on the other hand seemed like a goodin' i got 2freeweeks, that's good , i figured i could see wut it's like but then wut happend when that runs out!? then i saw what would become my home for quuite sum time...
free H2H thats when i made my decision.
i will donwload this, i will get my arse handed to me in the MA, and then i will directly proceed to get my arse handed to me in the H2H.
so far so good.
and that's about it i cam from RB, and other oldskool classics to this, and this, in the words of my good friend shake, '...is the shiznite!"
phase 3 of my plan to get my arse handed to me back in the MA is currently underway.;)

Found it on google while looking for online games 60 tours ago :)
I never really played flight sims before but I've always been a warbird/WWII geek.
