Title: A haunting recollection
Post by: Neubob on September 11, 2006, 09:11:15 AM
5 years, almost to the minute (http://ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/kevin-cosgrove-911-call.html)

As we listen to this chilling phone conversation, or draw on our personal memories of those gone, it would serve us well to think twice before ever showing mercy to another enemy.

I can't imagine the american public would've stood behind Bush & co. any less than they have, had said administration put as much effort in selling Operation Iraq II into selling a Manhattan-US self-sufficiency energy program.

I can imagine pumping the middle east dry (grosso modo) is a legitimate tactic, but it wouldn't void the eventual need for alternative energy sources - however far in the future it would be, should the US find comparable oil sources.
When facing an "enemy", you don't leave holes in your battle plan and bet everything you've got on a single scenario.  You make a plan that's as foolproof as possible, that covers every possibility from head to toe.

Education, border control, and energy independence are three items... I think there's a lot of others.
Taking care of your enemies is fine, but the point is to delete any risk to yourself.  Your own health is no less a priority.
In my opinion it is, without a doubt, a higher priority.

I don't mean to hijack your topic, but the clause you chose to end your post with implies what I'm responding to.
I could go on about the first part, but I think it's all been said already..

Our own temperence, our love for the 'potential goodness' within every person, including our enemy, is what makes us weak. Had we shown them the sort of hostility and willpower they showed us five years ago, the world would have been a different place.

I've said it before.... If the choice is us or them (and they've made it clear where they stand), then let it be them. Them to the last one.

I listened to it this morning...been on my mind all day. That moment of him realizing that the floor was dropping and he was going to die is just a nightmare.

Also..that firefighter was probably lost as well.

The horror of it struck me just as hard, and I can't get it out of my mind. A little too real. A little too intimate.

I should have thought twice before sharing it.

I think every American should watch this. I think it's one of those things that once you see/hear it, you NEVER forget. Americans should NEVER forget the horror of 9-11.

I can't even begin to put into words the emotions I feel after watching that.
