I have noticed recently while playing AH1, that the graphics of the planes are so much better. *Ducks for the incoming fire*. I mean now we have to model in light when making a skin, but in AH1, the light changes as you move your view rounf. There are several things about the graphics of the planes (not the actual field) that are also so much worse than in AH1! Would it be so hard to put the graphics of the planes back to the way they were in AH1? The graphics are already in existance, since AH1 is still around. Come on then, shoot me down and tell me why i wont ever be done and why it SHOULDNT be done!

1. You can take the graphics of the planes from AH1, yes.
2. You can't because AH1 and AH2 have different coding with the physics etc. It would take at least 3 or more months before anything would start happening.
3. HTC said that no new plane models would be considered until after the release of CT. Although this sound irrelevant, it also sounds to me that their not gonna mess with the plane's functions until the release of CT. Which since AH Beta version was "2 weeks away".

but heoretically, it could be done? Im not asking for it instantly, im just wondering why it hasnt been thought of (Even though it probarbly has!)

macleod01: Im totaly clueless what you are talking about, the way lighting is done hasn't changed. In fact the material file lets you control it.

hi tech, i have noticed that while playing Aces High 2, there is no shining on the wings unless created in the designing of that skin. However in Aces High 1, this is not the case. With out adding the lighting in the skin, It appears like the sun is actually shining on the wing. I love this effect but as I said, I have not seen it in Aces High 2.

Well mac, some aircraft have highlights from the sun, some don't. AH1 had it on all planes regardless of the skin used or the "material on the wing". It wasn't very realistic. The materials file now allows skins to be reflective if they should be (bare metal) or non-reflective if they are not (painted surfaces and wings). The materials file is a big help, trust me on this one :)

ok Krusty, will trust you on this, but its just personal taste, i think it loks better with Highlights. C 47 as shown above is a good example

i started playing AH1 about a week or two before it switched. i felt that the something was missing graphically...this was probably it.
i also rember missing clouds and the color green but i was around long enough before to prove that it was...
while the flight models are obviously supreme the graphics could use a bump...

That paint on the C-47 is supposed to be "flat" or non-specular as it was called back then. It shouldn't reflect any light, as it didn't historically. Very few of the painted planes in the game should reflect anything, except, for example, the late corsairs and hellcats, as they were painted with "gloss" paint in real life.

Wish I still had a copy of AH 1 -
