I have been playing the demo to Sudden Strike from the PCZone CD and love it. I went to www.suddenstrike.com (http://www.suddenstrike.com) for info and found that the game was released last month in Europe but it won't be released in the US until Jan 2001!?!
Anyone have it? Opinions of the retail version? The multiplayer patch?

I've heard it's good, but don't have it myself. Last I heard the release date had been post-poned several times, but like you say, I think it is out now.

I love Sudden Strike, playing it alot
online. If you into WW2 RTS, its a "must test".
The most fun i have is when playing 4 vs 4 teamplay or even more players, up to 12.
Some games lasting more then 2 hours!

SuddenStrike is definately one of the most realistic RTS games. MGs don't scratch tanks at all while AT guns can knock tanks out in no time unless the AT gun is in the tank's visual range etc.
You gotta get used to having to sacrifice units to win, but that's part of the game.
One thing I don't like is the linear storyline... No matter if you win or loose, it doesn't change the outcome of the war. The Panzer General series was way better at that, all three sides (allies, axis and russia) could win the war... that was pretty neat, and SuddenStrike would be way better if those features were in the game.
just my 2 cents

Well.. it is nice game but theres some flaws that I must wonder..
theres no famous 88mm flak guns for germans (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) (and if they're using flak cannon, it's russian 85mm painted over with grey)
Panther is slower than Tiger on road/off road (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
PZ-II gets killed by rifles while SdKfz 231 doesn't get a scratch (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
I hate artillery already *grin*
Against computer; you see one soldier and he spots you - wham, couple batteries firing within 2 grids from the tank or soldier
Now that was annoying in Volga.
and so on...
As long as theres no bigger artillery than 80mm mortars, I like it.
