For some reason, gif & other animated images don't work on my pc at home, but I see them moving on my work pc. What setting is not turned on on my home pc? Any guesses?
-
Go to "Tools" pulldown menu in Internet Explorer and select "Internet Options", go to the Advanced tab on the far right, scroll down and you'll come to a group of options under the sub-header "Multimedia". One of the options is "play animations in web pages". My guess is that is the problem.

Thx bro! I new it would be a simple fix, once I could find what to look for. Thx! wish me luck!:D
-
Just checked. The box was already checked. Dang! Next guess?
-
only in IE? what about firefox?
-
Never tried firefox. Is it basically the same as IE? Better?
-
Any ideas Skuzzy? I thought Irwinks idea would've fixed it.
-
Are you running a program in the system tray/background that is removing the images?
-
Not that I know of. The picture(s) is/are there. They just don't move. I'll post an example. This does not move at all on my screen, I just get the image:

Hmmm. It is definately an option in the Internet options. Have you recently added or changed a media player?
Do you happen to have Photoshop? If you do, then open the image in Adobe ImageReady. It can open and edit animated GIF's. See if the images are actually being recieved and stored on your computer as animated.
-
It works(is animated) in Windows image viewer, no where else. I don't have Photoshop, I have PhotoStudio 2000 SE, which is basically the same thing(works in layers & all that). I tried that, and Paint. Doesn't move in either one, but in the properties, it does show it has a frame count of 20 and is a gif file. Think it's a system setting on my pc & not just an internet setting? Like I said it is animated in image viewer, just nowhere else.
-
Here's another one to throw at ya. I have about 20 animated gifs saved on my pc. The example that I posted above is the ONLY one that is animated in Image Viewer. The rest just act like bmps, even though they are saved as gifs. They are all showing as a frame count of 1 in Properties. I wonder why it's not saving the actual full frame count, just the first frame of the animation.
-
So they are not even getting to your computer intact. You running any anti-virus software?
-
Yes. I use EZ Armor, which came with my ISP (RoadRunner). Think that's it? It's never gave me any warnings about anything I've ever downloaded.
-
I do not know if that is the issue or not. Something is altering files on your computer. Best thing to do is to try and get your computer back to a basic configuration and isoalte what is causing it.
-
Just checked it out. It doesn't scan bmps or gifs. Man, this is really aggravating not finding the prob. Been looking for months now.
-
cc Skuzzy, thanx for trying bro. Guess a grenade might work:aok
-

Rosco; see the second post. :D
My girlfriend just got a virus that disabled her image viewer. Though not the same issue, maybe the same cause?
-
DUH !!! (momentary lapse here )
theres several of you guys with that animation/script type problem ... I'm beginning to think its a firewall/av thing or a virous ...
What have you guys installed/updated/or changed right befor this happened ??? Thats what you need to figure out . or its reinstall /format time.
-
Another thing Skuzzy. On the HTC homepage, all I get is a plain green background with the choices at the top. I don't see any of the announcements, F4U new pics or anything. Man, this sux.
-
its in your windows settings .
IE sux .... if your using the newest IE ..well its up to you to learn to tweek its internet settings .. either that or switch to firefox like the rest of us.
-
Is Firefox basically the same as IE? I've heard of it, but never seen it.
-
yes it is, but it does it better :)
Opera (http://www.opera.com/) is also another free browser with very good popup protection and a bunch of other features, its also easy to use.
-
Just switched to Firefox. Everything is working just fine now. Thx for the help. Wow! I never knew there were all these animated avatars! Oh look! The smilies move! lol :lol
