Simple poll for future reference. No reasons or explanations needed.
Just 'WW1' or 'Korea'
WW1
-
To tough to decide, id be happy with either
-
Korea.
Gotta thing for F51D Fighter Bombers. It would be fun to try and auger Migs diving on my F51 :)
-
WWI would seem more fun to me than Korea would. Korea and Vietnam just never seem to make for good PvP playing fields, if done "historically".
The way maps are done would have to change to reflect trench warfare for WWI, which may prove tough....
Maybe WWI done "steamtech" style... reflect the comic book version of it? Heh...
-
Korea!
Some of my best fights in aw were in the F-86. Miss it... a bunch.
-
Korea. But give me my P39 first. :)

Falcon 4

Korea!

Jets are ghey.
-
I vote we fill up the WW2 planeset first
-
And Grits is an authority on ghey ;)
-
Korea. Spooky time!:aok
-
WWI. Jets are for homely girls.
-
I just want CT to get done.

Korea

real men fly bi-planes, just kidding, perk the sopwith camel.:D

I agree.
WW1 would be nice though
-
Korea.
-
Think Korea because its plane set is already have way there.
I think this would be a good Axis versus Allies Arena.

WW1.
-
KOREA
-
Definately WW1 then Korea
-
Defanantly WWI !!!
with modern net code it would be great! Seems the main drawback with WWI sims online origionaly was the fact that the planes are going slower and turning tighter so that it was harder for the network to keep track of em. It takes a long time to shoot down a WWI plane with the pea shooters they got, makes for good dogfights tho!

WW1
Sure the top wing blocks your view but it blocks everyone else's too and you can move your head now. Low and slow is a fun fight.
It would be fun to have a couple biplanes and jets in the TA just to fool around with. I know HTC has other things to finish but maybe if they get a little bored...
-
Gimme an F-86E....
How about the P-80? Me 262 vs P-80 duels in the DA!
My regards,
Widewing
-
KOREA!!!!
-
i would like both with a side of nam.
But raptor got it right, finish up ww2 first. BUT WAIT, wasnt the b29 in korea???
-
WWI
-
WWI
-
If it was WW1, would we be able to bail out or would we have to ride the kite all the way down?
-
u know what i would like, word from htc on this. With that we can know if posts like this are worth the time. With out the ww2 plane set done how could we get KOREA(wooden biplanes aint got nothin on f86) or ww1 or even nam(f4 phantom all day long). So please any word on this from the aces high staff.

WWI

WWI
-
Korea if WWI is gonna be a major suckage like DoA.
-
WWI - definitely. Fly where ACM was invented.
Forget Korea - if you hated chasing the running La-7s in the MA, you think chasing a running Mig or F86 will be any better than that? It'd be B&Z damnation. I'd rather have P-80s & Meteor IIIs here than go to Korea.
Unlike MacArthur - "I will NOT go to Korea".

Korea
I spent time flying WWI sim (Dawn of Aces). Although fun, everyone spent so much time grabbing to have alt advantage on enemy.
In Korea (AW), you jump in a jet and you're in a fight within minutes and not really concerned with altitude. I do miss the jet action.
-
WW1
-
Since some people voted twice...Korea.
My regards,
Widewing
-
WWI.. Twice.
-
Korea for the win. It'd be easier to model (less wings, no wires), and definately easier to have accurate flight model data available.
-
WW1
-
WW!
.......and no gurly 'chutes.
-
WWI
-
First I want to see decent planesets for Soviet Union and Japan in WW2 AH.
Then this question could be considered.
To be honest I dont know. WW1 has more charm to it but is much harder to fly hence very low attraction rate. Korea is as modern as a flight sim can be to hold my interest. After that its electronics warfare rather then flying.

i can't imagine trying to set up cockpit views on a WWI bi-plane. :O
don't forget the limitations of a computer moniter, the field of view is so small anyone who can't afford track IR will be totally at a disadvantage i think.
-
definitely "the war to end all wars".
-
The tough thing about WWI is they had no trim so you are forced to fly with your joystick at an angle to compensate, try the targetware sim, Richthofens Skies to see if you can handle it. DO NOT BRING COMBAT TRIM TO WWI !!!!

Did you ever try DoA? There's also been at least a couple of boxed WW1 sims.
It's possible, but you're right about the views being restricted by wings from what I remember about DoA.

WWI! Aces High - Red Baron Style! Perk the Spandaus!

WW1

Most Likely I´d like to See Korea first then WW1. Like it has been said the basic model for many airplnes have been done all you´d need to do is slight aesthetic arrangements to the model and you´d have a new plane, as far as the MiG and Sabre they could be introduced slightly and slowly with the different warring improvements.
-
WWI, no doubt about it. Hell, I'd pay $30 a month for that. (don't shoot me, just sayin that I would)
Maybe after Flyboys hits theatres this week, more will come to the "kites with engines" fold. Air combat in its infancy, and in its purest form. :)
-
I can just hear it already,
WW1....the GV's are slow and whimpy
Korea....only two good planes to choose, boring
-
I am an old Red Baron online pilot so I am going with WWI (although the Korean War holds a lot of appeal)
-
Here's why Korea would be done first (assuming they go forward). Three of the more common fighters are already modeled (P-51D, F4U-4 and Yak-9U). Plus, the B-29 was big player and modeling that will cross back over to the late-war MA. New planes added would probably be the following;
F-80C Shooting Star
F-84 (3 versions) Thunderjet
F-86 (3 versions) Sabre
MiG-15 (two versions)
A-26 (two versions) Invader
AD (three versions) Skyraider
F9F (two versions) Panther
Meteor (probably two versions)
Sea Fury
La-9
La-11
IL-10
F-94A Starfire
F2H-2B Banshee
F2H-3 Banshee
F7F-3N Tigercat
F3D-2 Skyknight
B-29A Superfort
My regards,
Widewing
-
Widewing I think the fact that AH is already closer to Korea then a WW1 planeset is a good reason to go with something different.
-
WW1, without question.
-
Korea
-
WW1
I say lets take it back to basic....live and lets die..lol
No cute to save your skin...:D
-
Either one and Im going to get pwned. Furball has already beatn the snot out of me with early war planes in AH. Now he'll get the planes he'll be even better in. Korea, I suck at jets. As soon as I get close to a target Im either out of fuel or Im compressing and I auger.
If I had to choose tho Id say Korea in the hopes for bombers.
-
look at widewing's korean roster, that looks good. How many ww1 planes are there, and how many are worth flying? I mean goin from a 400mph+ corsair to a 100mph fighter sounds like a down grade. Theres like one bomber(if u can call it that) and i seen the tank they used back then, not a pretty sight. INsteqad of slowing the game down speed it up. I would like to see both but i would be in the korean arena all day.
Can somebody wipe up a roster of some ww1 planes. try to get an idea of how that roster would look.

Spanish Civil War ...

Korea, so that I can finally farm perks in an F4U-4

how many of these would actually be flown and how many would be hanger queens.. How many bombers are there, cant leave those guys in the cold.
I looking up some of the tanks, Upgraded sherman was there(we need this in ww2 anyway), upgraded t34, m8, churhill is another that was there and is wanted in the ww2 roster, and i know theres more this is what im searching as im writeing.
Biggest plus with adding korea will be for the bomber guys, they will finally get there b29.
Could probably try to get those choppers into use by droping field supplys or picking up downed pilots. WAs the c47 there? or was there another transport?
WW1 would need everything new, top to bottom.
-
You didn't ask about hangar queens. Yup ... quite a few are bombers.
Korea would need just as much (if not more) work. Think catapults on the CVs for the Panthers .... a flight model for the helos .... amongst other things. ;)
-
Ooo and that list of WWI planes is seriously a short list. There was much innovation in this time.
WWI would be much simpler to model than Korea from a "support system" point of view. However, the flight modeling would be a challenge. A lot of WWI planes used quite unconventional control schemes...control surface warping, throttle control consisting of ignition timing rather than fuel mixuture, etc. It would be a challenge to get it right. And even then, "right" would be argued from here to Timbuktu. There's no shortage of WWI aircraft performance "buffs", which is a more subjective and debated discipline than the study of Jesus' years 2-30. A LOT happened in those short years for aviation, but seems nobody knew how to accurately record it. Yet everybody today is a bona-fide authority on the topic. You Red Baron II/3D guys identify with this statement. :)
That being said, if HTC was willing to take on WWI, and make something reasonable based on the available info and within the engine and gameplay capabilities of AH, I've no doubt that it would be the superb air combat experience. There are hundreds of WWI-heads out there that have no real home anymore, yet they search. Folks say that < 200 mph is a downgrade....oh my lord you have no idea the challenges that fast turning, slow flying, weak-gunned, sans parachute, and fragile construction combat offers. SUPERB.
Everybody go watch Flyboys on Friday (uh, the US guys. Don't mean to be America-centric to our brothers overseas). Then say you don't totally dig the idea. :)
-
well, i think our cv's need to be redone anyway. I have been on the uss interpids flight deck(it was in ww2) and our cv is tiny compared to that. The task force needs to become a more powerful force then it is today. Atleast with korea some of the vehicles and planes(B29, meteor, sharmen, churchill, etc) come back to ww2 and a hand ful(f4u,p51,m8,etc) are already done or need minor tweaking.
Both would be cool, i mean the game is called aces high. Doesnt say anything about being a strick ww2 fighter, and i dont see why it cant offer all 3 of them. I would love vietnam, the f4 phantom is one of my favorite fighters(if it aint 1 its top 3), but its more about air to air missles instead of guns. If aces high wants to expand the addition of both sound like the way to go.

WWI and Korea.
And, if one day it'll be possible.... why not?? VIETNAM! :D

WWI Perk the Fokker DRVII

If i must choose, WW1,
but i would like both.
-
lets see...
WW1-no chutes, catch fire alot, lots o' turn fights, ZEPPILANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Korea-lots of very interesting jets and prop planes, and o yeah...HELICOPTERS!!!!!!!!!
tough choice....
BOTH:D :D :aok
but i'm leaning twards Korea alot more....had enough dr1s try and kill me
also i wan to go fast....very fast...spad13 top speed is only like 140mph,
p-80 on the other hand had a top speed of 594 mph i believe
maybe we should skip korea and go straight on to vietnam, F-4 phantom anyone?
