He needs your thoughts and prayers.
Got an e-mail from his mother today and we nearly lost him for real. They couldn't get a hold of him for a couple days and finally went to his apartment where they found him unconcious on the floor in what turned out to be a diabetic coma.
He nearly died, has now had two major surgeries and been in the hospital since the 7th. He's apparently looking at a 3-6 month recovery period and will be in the hospital for quite some time.
Glenn is a great guy and I'm glad he's going to be OK, but any good thoughts and prayers sent his way would be appreciated.
-
I lost an uncle that way. Very lucky someone found him in time. Hope he has a full and speedy recovery.
-
Sorry to hear that. Please pass along my wishes for a speedy recovery.
-
Phan, you are one that I have always joked around with, either on country or 200. My prayers of a speedy recovery go out to you and yours.
Corkster, I'll even pray for you since you ruined AH2 :)
<> to all.

did he check his sugar regularly?

I'm a diabetic myself (type 1, have had it for over 20 years). My best wishes to him.

Yup, Phan is one of the good guys. I think he lives near me, now that I think of it.

Crappy way to find out, but at least you found out and lived to tell about it...and learn to cope with it.
-
Please give Phanboi my best and if you have any contact information for him, I would appreciate it if you can pass it along.
My girlfriend discovered she had diabetes almost the same way but unfortunately it cost her eye sight because it had gone untreated for such a long time before she found out she had Type I diabetes.

I talked to Phan's mom this afternoon. Once he's out of intensive care and in his own room she'll e-mail the address and phone. I'll pass it on to those interested.
I passed on that lots of folks out there were pulling for him. He won't be near a computer for a while I'm afraid

Now that I think... I know personally one other type I diabetics in here... BlauK I've met,, then I could raise a glass to Wolfala! ...
guys.
Salute! to all the other diabetics I don''t know in this game.
edit: Sorry, Dan, did't see your reply before I answered. to him.

well i see ack ack still thinks the world revolves around him and he still only reads the bad or what appears to be bad.Never fails, one of you nerds makes it out like what i posted was bad.
I to have diabetes and you know somethings wrong, you know to go get checked most people just put it off till it's to late.
Ack Ack needs to take the Prostate examining device from hole and return it to the doctor!
-
I suggest you edit or delete that heartless uniformed trash.
So the world revolves around you as well?
I suggest you get yer mind right and mind ya bidness.
-
Thanks for letting us know, Guppy, tell Glen/Phan am thinking of him and got him in my prayers & thoughts!
contact info would be great to have!
Sweet2th, you should lay off of this one, Glen is well known and is a pillar of the online sim community, and as for people knowing whether they have diabetes or not, my father had a stroke in 95, he didn't find out he had type 2 diabetes until last year, yet the doc told him he prob had it for a good 7+ years.........
most males shy away from the doctors office until something actually does happen..............

Mind this, Shut the f**k up! I cannot BELIEVE you would have the AUDACITY to post that swill in this thread. Mind your own business and no longer post in this thread.

I hope to see you on Phan, grumbling and good winging included. :)

The symptoms of diabetes are (at first) very subtle. Unless you know
what to lookout for, you very could have it and not know. Most other
wise healthy people would not be looking out for them. Unless it runs
in the family.

I really don't care what any of you nerds think , i never did and i prolly never will.
You should take what happened to this guy and make an example from it and go to the doctor and get a check up.There are several stages to diabete's and this guy prolly recognized them he just ignored them and look what happened.
TC is right for once, most men do not want to go to the doctor because they know something is wrong or believe it and don't want to get checked. You people are so entangled in this game and BBs that you actually thought what i typed here was bad towards that person when in fact it wasn't, this is a wake up call for all to get regular check ups so you don't end up like this.

and im sure this is what happen to rhino this illness is not somthing we expect and then we may put it off as just a flu like sickness until it is to late
my best wishs to him and his family

I wish speedy recovery for Phan!
It is going to be somewhat of a change in life and in routines, but it is great that you will still get the chance to make one! :aok
---
Sweet, you are pretty much out of line.
I was in late twenties, completely healthy and sporty guy, when my own type1 symptoms developed recognizable over a weekend and next 2 days. I was lucky to have know some diabetics beforehand, so I knew what to suspect when I went to doctor. However, my blood glucose was then already way over what the quick tests could measure and it might have been the matter of a day or two more to go down the hard way.
I know that low glucose levels cause aggression and irritation and make the diabetics behave irrationally. But really.. dont you, Sweet, take care of yourself? That is 4 times in 2 days already.
[edit]I am glad we have the "ignore list" function. Some "I know it all" people just are not worth getting all worked up for. [/edit]
-
Blauk, why do you think that?
man you guys are so out of touch with the real world.stop playin this game for a week and go enjoy whats out there and not on the monitor in front of you.sitting on this BBs and game full time warps you guys minds. Not once did i wish Phan any bad will, but yet you nerds paint that picture.
Go get a check up all of you.
-
PHAN my evil twin!!! Dude, I hate to hear this....I hope everything works out and pray for a quick recovery. Get well soon.

Wrong again. This is a thread to wish a member of the AH community a speedy recovery from his unfortunate health issues. Its not a forum to debate if he made some mistakes according to you. You know nothing of the man and you dont know the details of exactly what happened.
No one here needs your advice on life lessons.
You know nothing about any of us that posted to be making assumtions on who or what we are away from the BBS.
The fact that this is beyond your mental capacity is sad.

Phan,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

as with everyone else, wishing phan the best for a speedy recovery
as for sweet2th/autopilot/todd420, maybe you should go back to starting your own threads, pretending to be a new player, and leave this alone. well said del:)

It has often been said that " it is better to remain silent & have people think your an idiot, then to speak & remove all doubt." This would most definately be one of those times.
Phan, I don't know you yet, but I wish you well & hope for your full recovery.:aok

Hey guys and gals,
I'm back home temporarily between operations and feeling pretty good
all things considered. Many thanks for the cards, calls and posts, I'm both
awed and humbled by your caring.
Not sure exactly when I have to go back to the hospital, but I'll be in
touch till then. I'll tell you, I was jonesing hard after being off the net for
six weeks:).
I especially wanted to thank Shegotya for the cactus. I'm glad she
picked a plant even I can't kill! :) The phone calls and cards were very
welcome indeed, you folks are the greatest.
I don't know if any of you have ever had a colostomy, but apparently
it takes your digestive track approximately a week to get over the shock
of the operation. In hindsight, I'm not sure watching the food network
after not eating for a week was the wisest decision I might have made :).
I'm looking forward to catching up with all the posting I've missed and
seeing you folks up in the new arenas. Thanks again, Glenn aka Phan.
-
Hah! he's back! :)

Funny you should mention that Schatzi, apparently my rear end has
become a fascinating subject for the nurses learning about the wound-VAC
machine. Great, 5 pretty girls staring at my
behind and all they're interested in is the dressing ;)
On the plus side, I had a "donor" offering if I need some extra butt to
