Some people fly with tracers turned off.

But sorry, yes it IS actually about net lag. Your enemy may see you on his 5, 10, 50 or even 100 ft away from the postion you are on your computer. He shoot´s at the target HE sees, and it is determined on HIS computer wether you are hit.
Imagine of towing an invisible target drone behind you, your enemie can only see this drone. The length of that imaginary tow cable is determined by you and your enemies lag combined.
There is nothing you can do about it as our internet is not able to operate above speed of light...
As your films only show "your reality" there is nothing to "prove". On most of my films my enemies seem to miss my plane too, yet Im shot down for the reasons above.

Not every round has a tracer. There could be several bullets between the tracers.
The damage comes from what the shooter sees. If you hit a right wingtip, the target player gets damage on the right wingtip. There are delays from the internet, so even though you know he is shooting at you, you can't tell where he hit you from your film. I am sure the bullet locations from everyone are not tracked, and sent down the internet, only the damage information.
Another words, dodging bullets is not a good defence :)

I'm almost positive it isn't modeled here but just in case you should be aware that tracers and non-tracer rounds have different RL ballistics. A typical load would include only one tracer out of three rounds. Where tracers are going is only an approximation of where the rest of the rounds are, especially under high-G and long range shots so it's possible to get hit while seeing the tracers pass behind you. Again, I have no idea if this is modeled in AH, believe the explaination regarding lag is far more likely.

ER!! WRONG!!! Sorry, no offence, just really wanted to do that. I have film, where from my plane, i hit the P-51s right wing tip, but when I switch to him, the impacts are on the left wing root. Want it posted? Id be glad to! The rest is right, you just dont nescisarily hit where you see you hitting. And, I beleive standard is 1 tracer to every 4 regular rounds. And remember, tracers go HIGHER than the other bullets, because they are lighter (or so I was tought, Not sure if the game models this)

Reynolds, when recording a film, you record *your* FE. Switching into another plane in the viewer doesnt "switch" to another FE.
Take a film and switch into someones plane thats about 9K away from yours...... his flight path will be straight, changing direction (=update pos and vector) every few seconds or so. (That corresponds to far away dots "jumping").

And yet, depending on which plane I am in, the shots hit in a different spot? There is a VERY clear difference, whereas when I am in my plane my shots hit the extreme right wing, and nothing else, but when I am in his plane looking back, my shots hit the left wing root and nothing else. No mistake. BIG difference in hit spot. (Just a note, I was about D-200 when I shot, and the fight ended with a collision)

Sounds like a possible bug in hit sprite display (probably in the viewer?) Have you sent the film in to HTC with a report?
-
No, I havnt im so used to lag issues I never know whats a bug and what isnt (65% of my approaches to a CV, for example, everyone else sees me land on the water!)

That is a well known "bug/feature" and has been around forever. CV positions are always a few hundred yards off, that has nothing to do with lag.
But if i recall right, in another post you mentioned you had extremely low Frame Rates? That might well be an explanation for the discrepancy of hit sprite display.
-
Yes, a frame rate of 3. But that is VERY new. The day before these changes, I had a much better rate, and this film was way back a long time ago, on a computer with a GREAT connection. I wasnt checking at the time, but I must have had an FR of at least 50.

In AH its every 5th round.

If you are talking about bullet damage graphics, they are pretty generic, and won't always show where the hits actually were. If you are talking about watching a film with the target plane selected, the hit sprites you see from that view is more accurate than what you saw from your cockpit. Due to distance and depth, often times what looks like a tight shot group from inside your cockpit, was actually a more dispursed shot group when viewing it close up on the target plane.

These hits took place VERY close to the enemy. At D-200 on into D0 (I was firing, and he 'fell' down and we collided with me still firing) The distance wasnt great enough to cause this kind of change.

Nice bomber shot on your avitar Reynolds.

Thanks. I was jumped by a pair of 262s and lost my two drones. I was gonna auger, but I decided to keep going. Looks like I at least got a good pic. out of it!
