Whats the difference between the P-51D and P-51K? I know the "H" was supposedly a lighter and faster version, but the "K" looks the same as a "D". Whats the change? Different manufacturer, different engine or prop?
Im confused (as usual). :cry

built at a different factory and used a different prop. that's basically it.

So theoretically, a P-51K skin could be wrapped around our P-51D and there would be no official opposition?
BTW Deb, the "click me" comes up as a broken link.

Yep, the K was built in Dallas with a hollow bladed, uncuffed aeroproducts propeller and a slightly different shaped canopy.
D was mainly from the Inglewood plant in California.
